Default Question about baking a chicken

Have any of you ever baked a whole chicken in one of those reynolds cooking bags? If so can you tell me how you did it and how long you let it cook? Was it good? I am thinking about making one for dinner but I have never cooked a whole chicken at all so I have no idea what I am doing.

Sorry never used the bags. There should be directions on the box. I cook my whole chicken using the beer can method.

I have.
Make sure you coat the bag with a light powder of flour to prevent the bag from bursting. I also coat the skin with butter, unsweetened and some "Garlic and Herb" Ms. Dash.

I cook mine at 15 minutes per pound at 350 degrees.

I'd like to know too!

But, the reynolds cooking bags are wonderful! follow directions on the box. If you don't have the box, season your chicken inside and out with salt and pepper, and poultry seasoning if you like. I add a couple of stalks of celery and a cut onion to the cavity, in place of stuffing. Then place in bag and seal. Cut a small slit in the top of bag, and put in a pan big enough that the bag doesn't hang over the edge. Bake at approx. 350-375 degrees for about twenty min. per lb. (you know when a chicken is done when the juices run clear after piercing and you can twist the leg bone loose from the meat.
Yum-this is making me hungry! Happy eating! Tina

Open the beer can, stick the bird on so it is standing, and the beer warm up it bubbles up and bastes the inside of the chicken. You can do it with or without the beer--just using it as a stand.

YES!!! It's for real. People use it mostly on ourdoor grills. It works just like those fancy chicken stands...put the can inside the bird's..whatever you call it...and stand it up. Cross my heart!

Default Beer butt chicken

Beer butt chicken is what we call it in Texas! Sounds disgusting..but wow is it good. I usually do it with about half the beer in the can......and can do two on the grill at a time. MMmmm......

yep you open a can of your favorite low carb beer empty 1/2 of it or use low carb soda. You can do it on the grill or in the oven. The steam keeps the chicken moist and tender. I use 225F in the oven and crank it up to 450 for about 20 minutes when the bird is done for crisp skin

If you are wondering some one on the foodtv site tested the paint on the cans for toxic reactions and said it was safe.
