Hello Debi,

I was smoking almost two packs a day when I quit cold turkey 8 years ago. I believed it was the only way to go - no patches or anything. Besides, I don't think they were available then.
It was tough. But I had a secret weapon. I made a promise I will quit for my daughter. I carried a picture of her and every time I had any kind of urge, I'd look at her picture and tell myself I cannot break that promise to her. I never did.
Watch out though. You will have the urge to put something in your mouth to replace the habit. I resorted to hard candy. And some food as well. I ended up gaining a few pounds. But the pounds were well worth kicking the habit.
I wish you all the luck and all the will power.

Belle
