Hi Aetheana,

You may want to read the Oil of Oregano thread. I know it has been implied that OoO helps rid the body of yeast buildup. I suspected I had a yeast buildup, started the OoO, and broke a stall, weighing almost 3lbs less two days later. Also, the Atkins book makes reference to foods you should avoid if you're prone to yeast, like dairy products, etc. Good Luck!

Most candida websites say avoid sugar, carbs, yeast, fungi and fermented foods. that doesn't leave you with too much. You can safely eat all meats, veggies, eggs, some nuts (no peanuts and cashews-too moldy) and low-sugar fruits like avocados and berries. No cheese :-(
I also thougth I had candida, never been diagnosed though, only on a self-diagnosis basis. Now I don't know...
I also took garlic which is really good and probiotics which was worthless as I picked the wrong kind. I had some die-off but I don't know if it was really candida die-off or something else. Now I do the SCD yogurt. I also take coconut oil and sometimes garlic to fight infections.

I read on another thread that fermented vegetables are good for people with candida, like sauerkraut. But i thought you had to avoid fermented products?

this is really confusing. im finding a lot of websites that contradict themselves.

im going to start oil of oregono very soon. im also on garlic and probiotics from my doc.

Luckily the typical low carb diet is really good for starving Candida.
No sugars or yeast and nothing fermented ( alcohol, vinegar, soy sauce)
I realised that one reason I feel so good on low carb diets is that it stops feeding the Candida and all those horrible symptoms subside.
It's not enough to really get rid of it though.
Look on the net or at a herbalist for Calendula ( Marigold flowers) and Pau Darco. these actively fight it and can easily be drunk daily as a tea. Barberry is renowned to be another powerful Candida killer too.
You can find any of these at the many excellent online herbalists.
It certainly interferes with weight loss so look on the bright side. Now you know your enemy you can send it packing and see the weight drop off!
