Default Headaches - 2 days in

Hello,

so this is my second day on less than 20g of carbs.

So far so good, I am not very hungry, but I still need to experiment a lot in order to find foods that match my low carb plans, but still taste well. I think trying hard to substitute things with something that is supposed to match up to the original leads to frustration. Low Carb Protein bread will never taste like real bread, same probably goes for pasta and so on. So I will rather have to look for a real alternative breakfast than one with bread.

My problem is, that I have headaches... I get headaches easily regardless of my diet, but I think this one is related to the diet, it feels different then my usual headaches too.

Am I doing something wrong? Can I correct something so that the headaches go away? Or do they go away on their own over time and I just have to stick with it for now and will get better? Or do you think it is unrelated to the diet, since after two days it would be unlikely that I would have symptoms related to my eating?

Any expert advice?
Thank you!

A lot of new lowcarbers get to feeling rough during their first few weeks - I think of it as being a reaction to "carb withdrawal" so not unusual.

Many find making sure they are getting enough salt in helps - as most processed carby stuff is packed with salt our bodies are missing the salt they need for optimum comfort. So drinking a cup of bouillion (sp?) a day and adding salt to your low carb foods might alleviate your "withdrawal symptoms"

The headaches go on their own once you've withdrawn from carbs and then you'll feel great - it means you're doing it right lol!!!

You are absolutely right about this! Instead of figuring out substitutes, use your energy to discover an entirely new way of eating using real food.

Some people have a hard time adjusting--adjusting their brains mostly--to the idea of eating fat. We've all been brainwashed by anti-fat propaganda for most of our lives. So...if you like, dive into the bacon big-time. Don't forget butter--cook your eggs in that. And use a tasty salad dressing on the leafy vegetables.

You'll feel better and better.

Best wishes.
