Excellent podcast from DietDoctor on The Importance of Protein.. Dr. Ted Naiman is now advising the DietDoctor website how to communicate the changes they envision. "Keto" reached its peak interest about three years ago, as more people understand that added fats are not unlimited. Like Dr. Atkins, Westman, Bernstein, Naiman, eat the fats that come with Whole Foods, do not add extra.
Loved what Adele Hite says in this podcast. Fat is just empty calories nutritionally, like sugar.

I do not know. The DD membership gives you access to more movies, recipes, meal plans, but the free website includes all the basic material, all news, some of the talks, interviews, more than enough. If you want higher protein information, would suggest Dr Ted Naiman ...he is the doctor who is now advising DD on higher protein. Read through the two top threads in the Semi-LC forum.

Jean, if you are still looking for help with a higher-protein plan, the DietDoctor website has continued to add a health guide, tons of high protein recipes, and help with a plan. How to get started: https://www.dietdoctor.com/high-protein/get-started
More protein articles:
https://www.dietdoctor.com/?s=protein&st=any

I continue to keep it simple with Dr Ted Naiman's LowEnergyDiet, with two high protein meals a day in a 6-8 hour eating window. My weight continues to slowly inch down even though at a BMI of 22. I'm losing body fat while maintaining muscle mass, which at age 70, is no small thing Also between the Marty Kendall challenges, I may only regain a pound or two even with high carb desserts, wine etc. The main framework of two high protein meals stays in place.

Thank you, Janet. I will check out the new links.

As an experiment I tried a few days of eating more protein with very little carb, fat coming from the amount in 3-4 eggs per day only. I lost about a pound but I felt overheated so I stopped. Similar feeling to the hot flashes I used to get due to menopause. I am only a few pounds overweight but the excess belly fat and a bit on my legs bothers me. There is a strong history of diabetes on both sides of my family, all my siblings are already on metformin. I was on metformin but was able to come off of it. I now recently started berberine as I heard it can help regulate blood sugar.

It’s not a book, but Marty Kendalls nutrient optimizing master class is an app and has a PDF book with it. It is a six week program that has an intense focus on the nutrients in your diet whatever diet you choose. However, there is a focus on getting enough protein in the first week after baseline. In the past decade of eating low-carb I think the times I had symptoms of low thyroid, likely I was low in nutrients, particularly selenium, iodine, niacin, histidine and tyrosine. This program monitors some 40 nutrients. In the first two weeks beside increasing protein above 40%, my net carbs are 18%…and I feel healthier.

There is some focus on blood glucose in this program also, but the Data Driven Fasting is simpler, there is another challenge coming up in October.

Janet - I am glad you did the Masterclass. As you know I had thought for a long time that there wasn't enough emphasis put on nutrients. Marty Kendall's masterclass did for me what it did for you, upped my protein and increased the nutrient content of my diet, all to the good. I believe I have now found my eating sweet spot but without the sweets.

Aha! Just the thread I needed, now that I'm tracking again. Just yesterday, I went to Dietdoctor (my guru website) with questions about protein. Now I have another book to reference.

Thank you, Janet, as always. Happy to find faithful LC friends still here while I've been floundering in covid doldrums.

Welcome back Barbara!
I used my 10th anniversary on low carb in August 2020 to try something new, so my Covid funk was limited to 5 months.

In addition to Dr Naiman's P:E Diet, https://forum.lowcarber.org/showthread.php?t=483930. Check out the information on Marty Kendall's Optimising Nutrition and Data Driven Fasting. https://forum.lowcarber.org/showthread.php?t=484792 Both have worked well for me. If you like podcasts and videos, you can find dozens of those too. One of my favorites with both of them: https://youtu.be/ilduzDTFUlQ
