on the other hand if it feels like baby is very fussy and crying,it could be burp, gas, heat, cold, uncomforatable scratchy clothing,or baby may have itchy rashes on skin that he can't scratch.

He doesn't cry. He almost never cries. He just grunts and whines a lot! Sometimes, he is asleep, but sometimes not. Either way, I have to get out of bed to go see which it is, which means I hardly get any sleep! Often, he is whining because his pacifier fell out of his mouth. I really wish he would fall asleep without it more often so this wouldn't happen, but he usually wants the pacifier. Last night, it fell out, and he was whining, and I just stayed in bed hoping he would "self soothe and go back to sleep. Well, he did self soothe - he was sucking on his little hands so much I could hear loud sucking noises! So, of course, I couldn't fall back to sleep with those noises, so I got up and gave him his pacifier back.

When he gets REALL fussy, it's usually. I hate it because we always burp him after he eats, so I don't know how to tell if he needs more burping after he has already burped once or twice. Sometimes he falls asleep WHILE I'm burping him, but then he still wakes up an hour later needing to burp! I'm half tempted to let him sleep on his tummy since I know that would help him be ble to burp by himself, but I'm not comfortable letting him sleep on his tummy until he can at least roll over from tummy to back on his own, which he's not doing yet.

He actually doesn't really like the swing. He really doesn't seem to "like" any place to sleep any more than any other place (bouncy seat, swing, Boppy lounger, pack n play...). He usually falls asleep fine; it's getting him to STAY asleep for more than 20 minutes at a time that is the challenge!

Congratz on the new pregnancies and new babies I want to join in too - I haven't been on this forum in ages. I am 22 weeks pregnant with baby #3. I am about 90 pounds above my ideal weight and I really need to get healthy. I used to eat all organic and very healthy, but during some very economically difficult times I ended up throwing everything I know about health and nutrition out the window - we were relying heavily on food from the food bank so we didn't have a choice. Our diets were very high carb because that is what we were given..you can't complain in a situation like that . Our finances changed for the better last summer when my husband got an awesome job that he loves and it pays him well. However, my diet did not instantly revert to perfect. Before this pregnancy I actually was around 255 and I started to low carb and was losing weight. I had got down to about 245 and then I found out I was pregnant. Soon after I got fairly bad morning sickness and went down to about 220. Unfortunately once the morning sickness left and the appetite came back I wanted to eat whatever I felt like, since I could lol. So I'm back to 245..where I started at the beginning of the pregnancy. I have lost weight low-carbing during pregnancy before but its really hard to kick start in the middle of pregnancy. So I'm here to keep myself motivated!! It isn't just my weight that is motivating me - its how i feel. I am very tired all the time, I have some foods I need to eliminate completely to feel better (wheat, dairy), I have muscle pain that i was told is from adrenal fatigue (but since I'm pregnant they won't do anymore testing on the adrenals until after i have the baby). I know I will feel so much better after breaking through the initial phase of food elimination/carb lowering. I'm also taking a really good prenatal, vit D3, krill oil, extra B vits, vitamin c, digestive enzymes, and probiotics. About 2 months ago I got really bad bronchitis and an ear infection. I was wheezing so badly and coughing to the point of vomiting. I ended up taking antibiotics and definitely got rid of the major stuff, the fever went away etc. But I have been congested and wheezy ever since, any words of advice on how to kick it out? I don't know what else to do, its wearing me down.

The pregnancy itself is going great. I had some bleeding about a month ago from a low lying placent but it had already resolved itself according to my last ultrasound. We also found out we are having a boy. We already have a 9yo son and a 6 yo daughter, its fun because the kids already want to interact with their new sibling and talk to my belly and feel for kicks. My uterus is measuring ahead but it seems that's normal for me, people already think I'm due anytime now but I've got 18 weeks to go. The baby is measuring right on time though and so is my amniotic fluid, I honestly think its just the way I am shaped, I have a very short torso.

I guess that's about it...I'm going to start keeping track of my food in my journal, as that always helps me stay on track.

Hello jaybird. I've been there trying to live off of Church food closets its really awful all the junk just makes you more hungry. Not that I wasn't grateful for it!!
Glad the placenta righted itself how scary!!
Welcome to the forum!!

Wow Jill that sounds awful!! Have you tried a different style bottle? Maybe something that will put less air in his system?

Okay guys I've gotten pretty engorged with breastmilk. Any suggestions?

Nice warm shower and gentle smooth your breast tissue towards your nipples and gently massage any lumps so the extra milk can flow away.

Also breast feeding in different positions can help, rugby hold (under arm) lying down etc xxxx Hope it eases - remember it well

forgot about the different positions!! I'm just scared about the mastisis I had a double when I had my oldest!! If was horrifying! You know when you take off your bra and a seasoned nurse covers her mouth and says "OMG!!" you've got a big problem!!
Thank you!!

Oh and I forgot to tell everyone that Michael did not have jaundice. My first baby that didn't so the Vit D did the job!!

Thanks for the welcome Kaylakala That's awesome that baby had no jaundice this time, very good to know. I've been taking vit D3 regularly too since i found out it was on the low side when I got it tested in fall. Good stuff.

heh, we have Mam bottles, Playtex VentAire bottles, Tommee Tippee bottles, Evenflow bottles...

He's actually been doing better this week. Or maybe I'm just feeling better because my husband and I are now sharing the night feedings instead of me doing all of them!

Well, thankfully, after removing wheat and dairy and upping my vitamin C and D3 and krill oil, just after a few days and my congestion is improving quite noticeably. I am very relieved as I just couldn't imagine having this congestion when I went into labor! I have made an appointment with my regular doc to get tested for allergies though, I think I may have environmental ones in addition to the food ones I have detected through elimination diets.

Does anyone know if glutamine is safe during breastfeeding? I ind I have terrible carb cravings at night (way worse than pregnancy, I had will power to avoid them while I was pregnant). I was hoping this may help.

Currently I'm just taking a prenatal and vitamin D, and supplementing baby with vitamin d drops ( I ebf). We went to the Pedi today and he has gained 14 oz in the last ten days. The doctor says my breastmilk must be like heavy cream. It's funny because my carbs have been around 50 and my only dairy is heavy cream and cheese.

I thought LC affected supply? My supply is inane this time around! Way better than with my first!

Havent been here in awhile. I am 23 weeks tomorrow. Had an ultrasound at 19 weeks and its a BOY. I have gained 6.2 lbs so far and really pleased about it. Not much else though is going on. I feel great, bit sleepy now and then. Knitted baby a bonnet and mits and waiting on more yarn so that I can knit booties as well. I never buy enough yarn {or buy way too much!}

Hi everyone! I am new to low carbing but not to weight loss. I usually calorie count but that always leaves me hungry and has been hard to do since I met my husband 5-6 years ago (he's a big guy who likes to eat).

We've been TTC our entire 4 years of marriage. About a two years in I lost 50 lbs calorie counting (240 was my high weight) and he lost over 100 on Atkins (he was over 400 lbs, he's now 340 so he did not gain all his weight back either). However then my husband got really sick and we both went off diets and our weight slowly climbed. I hung unto just around 200 (a little above or below depending on the day) for a long time but then we started actual fertility treatments last fall and I ballooned up to 225 after several IUIs and one IVF. Our first IVF was successful in that I got pregnant but it was/is an ectopic pregnancy. I had to have 2 methotrexate shots and I'm still waiting for my beta to get to 0 so technically I'm still pregnant I guess. Oh and we have severe male factor (like 0 to a few thousand per analysis which is why IVF with ICSI worked and nothing else has). According to all the specialists there is nothing 'wrong' with me but losing weight can only help matters.

Anyway because of the methotrexate shots we have a forced break of at least 3 months. We decided to take these 3 months and focus on our health. I had read that eating high protien helps with egg development so I knew I wanted to try low carb. I debated between South Beach and Atkins but since DH wanted to do Atkins I thought that would be easier since South Beach is low fat and Atkins is high fat.

I am on day 3 of induction now and I have already lost 1.2 lbs! And I am not starving on this diet! So far its going great. I hope I can keep it up.

I thought I'd join you girls to see who here used low carb to help them successfully conceive and then did you transition to higher carb when you got pregnant? I would just think things like morning sickness would need crackers and other high carb things. lol

I haven't read through all these posts yet but I will. I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself.
