Conditions are so different from day to day and activity to activity I could never come up with a number - I definitely don't count what I drink. You will need three times as much walking outside for five miles in 100 degree heat as you would walking on a treadmill in a 70 degree gym - it can be shocking how little temp differences can affect things. I generally drink extra when I exercise, but only a significant amount extra if it's over 55 degrees. Otherwise I'll run up to ten miles (almost 2 hours of exercise) without taking any water with me at all and just sipping a little before I head out. At 60-70 degrees, on the other hand, I might drink an extra 30-40 ounces to compensate for sweat loss. If you are in a gym, I would take a look at the thermostat in your gym to try to get a gage. In some gyms, they keep it well-cooled and you likely don't need very much extra even if you are working pretty hard, but if they keep it at 70-80 degrees, make sure you compensate. But even if it's hot the fact that you are shaded will reduce how much fluid loss you will have. I can run 5-8 miles at my 75-80 degree gym and not really drink much water. If I tried that outside, the sun would have an impact and I would have to drink alot more. Sorry I don't have an answer to your question. I guess my answer is, "it depends".
