Cool Newbie

Hi,
I was so excited to see a groups for other FM'rs on the Atkins Diet. I know we all suffer with digestive problems and have our own problems with exercise etc.

I started on the Atkins diet April 2001 I did really well and lost 15 kg's (33lbs) in 5-6 months, which was great, then I seemed to hit a wall. I kept going out of ketosis every month with my monthlies and not being able to exercise (because of pain and fatigue) I wasn't able to budge the weight at all. However I did keep it off until January this year when I was hospitalised. Since then all the weight bar 6½ lbs has gone back on much to my digust.

I haven't as of yet started back on the Atkins but I know I have to. I am looking forward to the support (and getting to know each other) and giving support to others here.

Debbie

Welcome to you. I hope someone can pinpoint some of the causes of not continuing to lose, besides the typical stall.

What changed when you went into the hospital? Was the food low carb? Are you able to request a particular diet? If high carb, did you find yourself feeling extra hungry between meals and/or feeling as though the amount of food was barely enough? Did you track calorie intake during that time?

When you have shifted your body to ketonic basis, you will find that the carbs you do consume are more apt to be stored as fat than before you started Atkins.
