Default Hypothyroidism..wow had no idea!!!

It never occurred to me that I could have a thyroid problem. I haven't been able to lose weight no matter how much I try ( blamed it on getting older).
I'm always cold, so tried that when I get up I can't wait till bedtime. Why was I shocked when my doctor called and told me my thyroid was very low and put me on 100mcg of levothyroxine? I know this isn't going to help me lose weight but will I feel less tried? I'm so tried that it hurts!!!

I'm having blood tests for the same thing, cold, tired, miserable..... I've been taking sea kelp for the last few days (til my blood results are in) and thats actually helping with the coldness.

Yes it should make you feel a lot less tired. This will make you feel better, and will also probably help the weight loss, as you will be more alive and active.

Even when we expect something, the news that it was true is still bad news and hard to take. It just tells me you are an optimistic person .

Have you been eating VLC since May 2011? Like Jo I found some iodine helped my (admittedly minor) symptoms enough not to go down the medication route.

Dr. Davis had a good checklist approach for a "Thyroid Tune-Up":

And when he wrote this about two years ago now, I added Kelp (had been using only non-iodized salt and Himalyan Sea Salt for years) and am no longer so cold, less tired.
