Ok, so I've been really good about eating LC. The carbs have been from veggies, LC wraps, strawberries, cottage cheese, greek yogurt, etc. Anyway, yesterday hubby wanted to take me out to Mexican. It sounded soooo freaking good. So, I went and ate whatever I wanted. Chips 'n bean dip, rice, beans, ice cream. Last night, I got foot cramps so incredibly bad, I was crying. I've never experienced that magnitude before. All I can think is that it was associated with all the carbs I ate??? TIA

While there is no way to know for sure, the fact that you have not experienced them before and did so after eating this junk suggests some relationship.

I don't know what is in the food you ate that might have caused the cramps. It might not be directly related. These kind of cramps are sometimes blamed on a deficiency of some mineral such as potassium but it does not seem likely that one meal of high carbs would lead to enough of a deficiency that fast to cause that level of cramping.

I used to get terrible calf cramps on SAD that have all but disappeared on low carb. Not sure if its the K, Mg or just a reaction to grains. I now only get the occassional muscle cramp in my foot when swimming.
