Default Got my first compliment... :^)

Not too long after getting home from work last night I got a phone call from a customer with whom I had met at mid-day. We had actually eaten a sandwich together (I peeled off and discarded the bread, and ate the lettuce, pastrami and cheese), during which he kept looking at me kind of strangely. At the time I chalked it up to me discarding the bread, forgetting that I was 30 pounds heavier when we last met.

Clearly something was bothering him, though, so he called me to ask if I "was okay?" I laughed and assured him I was fine...what was bothering him? Well, he said, "You look completely different to the last time I saw you...better, but I just wanted to make sure you weren't ill, and that the weight loss was on purpose."

I assured him it was on purpose and that I was doing and feeling fine. He then went on to gush about how great I looked and that he hoped I wasn't going to lose more weight (because of how good I looked). I demurred on that point saying that I really wanted to lose more weight yet, but that I wouldn't do anything rash.

Anyway, it was a complete out-of-the-blue event that I wanted to share. I can still see lots of subcutaneous fat when I look in the mirror, so am determined to lose another 30 pounds or so. Progress is good, though, so I'm going to just stick with the plan and see where it takes me.

Yay! 183 does seem like a good weight for your height. So you want to get down to 150? Perhaps that's on the low side, but I'm sure you know your body well.

Congratulations on the compliment and the 30lbs!! That was a well deserved feel-good moment when he called you.

Thank you for the encouragement, everyone.

Brigitta, yes...under 150 is my goal even though I am 5'10" and could carry 180 well (if fit). I was very slender until reaching 35 years old. That's the last year I made the AF cross-country team. I weighed 150 then, and even that was really too heavy. I was lifting a lot and had a nice physique, but I prefer to be more slender.

The next year I spent flying to the sandbox living on MRE's, and gained 30 lbs...LOL!

Here is a photo of me from last summer when I was at my max weight of 213. I'll take an updated one soon, as I realize that I am now half-way to my goal weight.

Sorry it took me so long to snap a simple photo, but here I am today, 31 lbs down from when the photo above was taken, and half way to my goal.I even wore the same shirt.

Wow, great job! I can definitely see why others are asking what happened to you! (In a good way).

Sorry I didn't get back earlier, I'm on vacation in Maui right now and do not wanna go back home! :-)

Thanks for the encouragement...and yeah, if I were returning from Maui to rainy Auburn in September I'd be a bit bummed, too.

/originally from Western Washington...never going back
