Default Anyone tried food delivery?

I was wondering if anyone has tried the keto food delivery systems where you buy keto / low carb food meals by the week. Besides being expensive they look tempting as i find it hard to cook for one, Any thoughts or experiences?
Besides being costly they look like they have more carbs than traditional low carb diet.

The only time I've done food delivery was after I'd had surgery last year and wasn't able to drive for a few weeks afterwards. It wasn't any particular fancy pre-prepared keto meals or anything though, it was just the usual meat, veges, bit of dairy etc that I would normally get from the supermarket anyway.

May I ask what sort of things you find difficult about cooking? I know it was tricky for me at first as well, but what has your experience been? Is it a lack of time thing, a hatred for dishes thing (this was me), or something else entirely?

Well I did low carb for four years, lost a lot of weight. good health, normal blood sugar etc. then for some reason I went real crazy for a year eating all the bad stuff that got me fat. I always said it was a one time thing then that turned into a year. I'm needing to get back to a very low carb way of eating real soon. I'm just scared I'll have trouble making the transition. Also its real weird at my house -- my wife has something wrong with her -- physical or mental or both, she refuses to go to a doctor and is now bedridden all the time, I mean 24/7. My son is at home but is autistic. So they eat very different. I'm the only one working and I have to do everything around the house including taking care of everybody as best I can. I'm just cooking for me and I'm worried that starting back on simple meat and vegetables will be hard and if I order pre-made meals at least sometimes it will make things simpler and relieve some of the stess.

That sound super tough. Might be time to go into emergency mode. Sandwiches for them and rolled up deli meat and cheese for you, that kind of thing.

This question is very timely. I have a surgery coming in the very near future and I was contemplating getting a LC food delivery for while I recuperate and will be weak and less mobile. It would be about 4 weeks, so been brainstorming on how to make things easier.

There are several delivery services and I hear some of them are pretty good. They are all pretty expensive.

A few years ago I tried the low-carb plan for Diet-to-Go. If you can get local delivery on that it's okay, but the shipped version didn't really taste as good for some reason. Still it was edible and simple and worked fine for someone like me that hates cooking and was too busy to do it.

I haven't tried any of the others; they sound like they might be better than Diet-to-Go. That was the only option when I tried it. I think it's good way to get going with low-carb. You'll get a sense of the kinds of meals you can make and eventually realize you can do it yourself for not much time and lots less money.

Also, I'd look around on this website and do some research elsewhere about autism and low-carb. It's highly recommended for people with autism and many have seen significant improvements in their symptoms and communication after going LC. You just have to make sure your son gets enough fat and protein in his diet, so that he doesn't lose weight. Some people have also had good results in treating mental health disorders like depression (which is what it sounds like is going on with your wife), bipolar, anxiety, etc.

I suggest you do the same meals for everyone--it might do them some good!

My son was on gluten free / casein free until about age 8 and it did really help (although real hard at that young age) but now he's older he makes his own decisions and its junk food. My wife is not going to eat low carb so those guys just aren"t going to do it. Her situation I believe has some non mental roots -- I suspect a brain tumor maybe , Might be benign but she has made it clear from day one no doctors no meds. As long as she isn't harming herself or others there isn't much I can do. it is pretty rough though.

That sounds so difficult.
I have never used a meal service, but most week nights my husband and I are on different work schedules.
Here are some staples for minimal effort nights-

Omelets (i never get.tired of a big cheesy omelet with veggies, I often have a side salad with it).

Precooked chicken sausages- I waited them with bell pepper. Dinner is ready in 8 minutes or so.

Precooked chicken meatballs- I heat these with low sugar marinara and minced garlic, and broccoli slaw. Top with parm.

Premade burgers- too with cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, avocado......

Frozen shrimp- sautee with pre cut stirfry veg, soy sauce, sesame oil, crushed red pepper and garlic. You can toss in sesame seeds or cashews, too.

Using pre cut veg is still way cheaper than meal delivery and makes cooking a ten minute job.
Take care!
