Default what do you use for snacks?

Okay as a person following Schwarzbein, and seems to be a turtle even if tiger is in my nickname, what do you use for snacks if you cut out nuts and cheeses. They are the only things I use for snacks for the most part and really is the only thing on the list that would be a staller problem for me. I have to have the snacks because of the PCOS.

Hi there Tanya......

Sorry you didn't get an answer sooner. Hope that you are still around.

If you need to be having snacks, why not consider eating 5 - 6 smaller meals a day, rather than the usual three and snacks? When you eat this way, it's easier to do because you can just divide each meal into two. For example, if you have a three egg omlette with cheese and veggies for breakfast, only eat half of it and save the rest to eat at "snack" time.

Also, have you checked out the recipe section of the forum, specifically the section on "Quick Meals & Snacks"?

Thanks for your answer. Following TSP I need the snacks in a lower carb than the meals so eating 6 small meals really doesn't work for me as well. I also have the trait of not like leftovers of anysort for the most part. That is one reason why I asked. I have found for me that since the morning is my busiest time of day I do better if I eat a 30 gram meal and then I can usually skip the snack and eat an early lunch. Thanks for your reply.

Beef jerky is the best snack in the world. Totally portable. Try ordering from JerkyUSA.com. It only has 1 gram carb.

Yes, and don't forget the GREEN stuff!! Celery stalks dipped in sour cream, stuffed with cream cheese, or a little natural peanut butter.

I'm laying off the nuts now - big time staller for me, but I do enjoy rolled salami and cream cheese, or FRIED cheese...just discovered this. Can't have too much, but it's good and crunchy with a great taste, so a little bit satisfies.

Smile Snacks...

I'm really enjoying hard salami and Swiss cheese roll-ups these days for snacks...

But if you're cutting out cheese, try just rolling up sliced meats in fresh romaine with mayo or mustard. It satisfies me and I can eat quite a lot of it without stalling.

And don't forget pork rinds! When I started LCing in January, I loved pork rinds in cooking but hated them as a snack food. However, lately I can't get enough of them and they are great dipped in sour cream or with cream cheese.

Good luck!

Donald

My new favorite snack is red pepper sliced with cream cheese.

I also love the pepperoni, jerky and salami but high salt makes me stall.

All the best to you.

My favorite snack is chip and dip! I take cucumber chips and dip them in mayo. It's one of those "don't knock it til you've tried it" snacks.

I like to microwave pepperoni. Makes it crunchy.

Thanks for the info.
Being on SP options are a bit smaller, but the really tough days I am not so strict with it.
That's when the pork rinds do come out.
I like the ideas with the veggies, they appeal a great deal to me. I'm not a big salt eater for the most part. One way chips where not a big temptation for me even when I wasn't low carbing, then again, the more salty, the fewer I ate.
