Default CFS/Fibromyalgia no more

Hello,

On Sept 26, 2001, I went to bed feeling fine. The next morning I woke up feeling like I hadn't slept. I went to be early that day and tried to get 12+ hours of sleep. Same thing happened again and again. Days turned into weeks and weeks into months. For the next 9.5 years I suffered terribly.

I went to all kinds of doctors and specialists. I had every test done that the doctors or I could think of. All results were negative normal.

I did the zone diet and avoided dairy and gluten and that helped some but it didn't improve the quality of my life much.

I have been searching the web ever since and I found this radio interview.
http://curezone.com/upload/Audio/Io...rr_ORN_pt_1.mp3
http://curezone.com/upload/Audio/Io...rr_ORN_pt_2.mp3
I apologize for the outside links.

In the interview, Dr. Mark Starr says if you have a low basal/resting body temperature and some other symptom like fatigue and/or pain (i.e. CFS/fibromyalgia) you could be hypothyroid type 2 (HT2).

Hypothyroid type 1 is where your thyroid gland produces little or no hormone and this is easily detected by a blood test (which I had done several times). Hypothyroid type 2 is where your thyroid gland produces a "normal" amount of hormone but your body needs more. You can find this in Dr. Starr's book "Hypothyroid Type 2". You can get a used copy for cheap online.

I got the book and I followed the directions. I started taking iodine to build up my adrenals and then I started taking thyroid. Both available online for cheap and without a prescription. I also supplemented with vitamin C and selenium.

It was like waking up from a nightmare. Within two days I was feeling better. Within a week I knew I had found a major piece of the puzzle. I realize now I was incorrectly diagnosed with CFS/Fibromyalgia. I am HT2. The sad part is that the symptoms were staring the doctors in the face all the time. My temperature has always been low. I was always cold even in the Summer. It's been 5 months and I can go a whole day and I still have energy left over at the end of the day. I still need a nap usually but I am down to 8 hours of sleep a day and I do physical things (like mow my lawn again

I am not a medical practitioner so make sure you consult a physician and do the research before trying any medication or treatment.

Sincerely,
Lord Ugh

That is very interesting information! I have been suffering with both for years now. I have often wondered about my thyroid because I have SO many of the symptoms and characteristics as well as a family history of close relatives who have low thyroid and who had hte same symptoms .But my tests always came back normal so I thought it wasn't that .

Kind of weird I read this today .... lately the word "iodine" keeps finding me , seems the subject of iodine has come up in several conversations as well as I came across a couple of articles suggesting iodine as a useful supplement as well . Maybe its a sign !

Default Iodine

Did you listen to the radio interview? Lugol's iodine (that's a type not a brand. It's 2% iodine and 4% potassium iodide) is what he recommends and what I take. When I first started taking it, I had terrible cravings. I was doing 50 drops a day. After about 2 weeks the cravings dropped off.

So people just need iodine. Wikipedia lists iodine deficiency as one of the leading causes of mental retardation. Seriously! It's in the first or second paragraph.

Iodine displaces fluoride so be careful. You can have flu-like symptoms. The lymph nodes in my underarms swelled up for a few days. They were sensitive. I massaged them (don't squeeze) and it helped. I can't drink fluoridated water anymore. I can taste the fluoride. It's vile.

Good luck.

Iodine deficiency is rare except in third world countries today. If you have untreated Hashi's iodine can adversely affect this and do more harm than good. Get a complete thyroid panel done before you supplement. One analogy I have read on this situation is that taking the iodine with thyroid disease is like putting gas in a car with no gas tank.

Default Medications I take

Sorry I didn't reply sooner. I thought it would email me when there was a post.

Dr. Starr says that when you're hypothyroid, your adrenal glands try to compensate. He says they can get burned out. To help stabilize the adrenal glands he recommends taking iodine for a month before starting thyroid. Otherwise, he says, you can permanently damage your adrenals. He mentions all this stuff in the radio interview and his book. Listen to the interview and if what he says resonates with you there are plenty of ways to follow up.

I started taking Solaray Thyroid Compound. It was okay but it had other things in it (e.g. vitamins). I tried to order more but they were out so I ordered a different brand. Now I use "Ultra Glandular's Raw Thyroid" (UGRT). I order from both Vitacost and Amazon. Be careful when ordering UGRT. They have a similar product called raw thymus. I haven't tried it. I take 1 pill in the morning, 1/2 pill 8 hours later at 2pm-ish, and 1/2 pill at bedtime. Now my wife calls my "thyroid man" hahaha because I have so much energy.

The hypothyroid community on Curezone recommends taking selenium and VitC with thyroid. I found it does seem to help. I take 200mg of selenium and 500mg of VitC.

Standard disclaimer: I am not a medical professional.

I hope that helps.
