Hi Prudence-
welcome to this site and glad you are doing CALP!
There are lots of us- but a quiet group. Please spend time reading old posts and visiting journals. Lots of great info. I am going to post this in your journal, too.

The main difference between the CAD and CALP RMs is the CALP one is more balanced with 1/3 of protein, vegies and carbs and it should start with a salad.

Have a great day-
E

Default 1st week of averaging again

Well, today marks my first day to average since deciding to get it in gear, quit gaining slightly to just maintaining and get back to losing.

I was so pleased that last weekend, when i began to weigh I was 291 then 290 - which I posted in my profile. Then came this past week of weighing (I weigh daily and then average to get my current weight, as per the Heller's instructions).

Hence my new current weight...293. Argh. It was actually 292 this am, and I sure hope I see more of that, and lower, so that next week, I can truly say, I am losing.

Just call me the tortoise when it comes to weight loss speed...but I will win the race!

Which plan are you choosing to follow? What do you think led to your going off plan?

I'm a newbie to CALP, I only hope it works. So far so good on the cravings. I guess I have been disapointed so often that I have a lets wait and see attitude. Judy

I think it works so long as one really has this issue to deal with - the Hellers designed this to deal with post-prandial hyperinsulinemia...one reason they have their quiz for folks to see if they need CAD or CALP.

I will tell you from painful experience, don't tinker with the plan. Do not skip cm veggies with your cm snacks (though sometimes protein only is fine, and as we are all different, I do know of folks doing well with protein only cms), don't skip your pre-rm salad, truly balance that rm, and exercise!

Going off and on will change how well your body responds to being on plan re losing weight. That one, I know all too well

I find it a wonderful way to eat for life, but have cut some corners (I'm the original vegetables? What's a vegetable if it's not say mashed cauliflower?? Meaning not enough fiber in my diet)which was a mistake for me to have done.

I think it is the greatest feeling in the world to have a well balanced RM that leaves you really feeling satisfied (and not guilty!)
