Somehow I ran across this thread and am surprised it isn't more active - problems with sugary carbs and alcohol often go hand-in-hand given their similar effects on the brain. Is there another thread re: addictions that I've missed? Thanks.

well I'm back, been married widowed and had a torn meniscus surgery and a hysterectomy last week, the past year and a half has been rough, but still sober, one day at a time. I am home recovering and hope to get to a meeting tonight, need one with less stairs. I soon will be having a surgical menopause, so wish me luck.

Good heaven Liddie 01! That's a year that would put anyone on the bottle and drown in it. Great job for hanging in there. Sorry for all your health issues and surgeries. i wish there were something i could say that would make it all go away.

Well this too shall pass, and one day at a time. it has not been easy, but I have been sober a long while and I know that a drink never makes anything better for me.

Hello everyone
Barring any hiccups, I will be celebrating 18 months next week. After getting through my first year and learning a ton in the program I'm finally able to apply some of the ideas and steps to my eating habits. I've gone on and off the LC wagon countless times and want to figure out a way to make it stick this time, so I figured I'd apply a program that is already working wonders for me! I just wrote a rather lengthy journal entry about it.
Just now noticed this thread. Just getting back to living LC/NC ... mostly meat & some dairy ... after another month of trying to go vegan & going almost gaga with hunger every 2 hours while trying. The only thing that works long for me now age 73 is nearly no-carb. Atkins pioneered the path for me in his 1972 first book. It worked for me then & does now as well. This is my second day here again. I've been a sober member of Bill W's gang for 31 years.
Okey dokey ... I am assuming this thread is dead, dead, dead. I won't write here again. I have other sources online for this kinda thing. Bye y'all. Tootle-loo.
