Welcome back!

You are far from alone in the off-the-wagon and on-the-horse cycle. Many of us have gone through quite a few wagons and horses and many other things.

Very frustrating. We each have to find what it takes for us to stay on course for the long term and, as I can attest, for many of us there simply is not easy and surefire answer.

Hopefully by interacting with lots of other people in the same boat we can figure it out.

I'm back after an unfortunate hiatus as well. This is a familiar pattern of first relief at cutting through my denial and making an effort again, and then regret for having to re-lose previously lost pounds.

But so be it. Here we are again anyway - moving on.

Welcome back! You have taken the biggest step and that is getting started again. As JL and wbahn have said, many of us have been there, myself as well.

Onward and forward!

My doctor gave me medicine that had bad interactions. Caused my potassium to drop to 2.5 which is extremely dangerous. So now 1. Need to get my sugar low again 2. Lose weight again. I had got stuck for over 1 year. Where then I got off the Way of Life. I am just so tired as I am a very picky eater. Thank goodness most of the stuff I don't like is stuff we can't have. I do get bored and want sweets. I can't seem to get over that or the guilt even when making low or no carb sweets. Makes me almost depressed.

The medicine that caused my issue was losarten hctz then added xigduo ( farxiga and metforman) my blood work was fine wit the first meds but both caused my low potassium. In fact the hospital said if i had waited till morning to go in to ER I probably would have died.

I am not sure if it is the medicine causing me to feel down or not losing weight or both. I also notice when my blood sugar gets lower I feel down... I want to get mine down to 70's or less.

Sugars less than 70 mg/dl? For most people that's the edge of hypoglycemia. Do you have a reason for that number? Are you diabetic? Is that a number that your doctor is happy with?

When they were doing a research study on the advisability of getting diabetics down to an A1c of 6% they actually had to stop the study because of excess mortality among the participants. They may try again now that continuous glucose monitors are available to help manage the risks.

Maybe 70 is too low. I just want a1c of below 6 so I can get off my medicine.

Hey Nate, There's a pretty interesting thing I'm doing called Data Driven Fasting where you track your glucose and eat to your meter and SLOWLY chase what's called a trigger - a number that you can "eat" at - you can eat any time but this is the goal to chase. My "trigger" currently is at 81

Trying to connect what feels "hungry" to what the meter (which have quite a wide accuracy rate - listed as about +-15% ) is displaying (maybe with a few samples if you don't trust the number.

I've been down to 70 and i definitely feel hungry - the idea is you kind of want to eat at the onset of hunger and a reading that is close to trigger - doesn't always work - and you can eat - it's the LONG HAUL that matters. You have it be in that mindset no matter what path you take IMO tho.

peace to you and yours. No luck needed, just persistence. Well, i'll modify that and say luck my play a part in finding the thing that works for you, then it's all persistence
