One thing I've noticed is that some people who can't sleep at night might be taking naps during the day.
Another thing is that if someone wakes up late, they're going to repeat that pattern.

Yes, definitely avoiding the blues. Ordered some glasses today.

Meme#1 - Is that what you have "noticed?" I don't take naps and I've always been an early riser. Thanks.

Cotonpol - I didn't think I had it either. Still wondering about the test. I think replacing some bulbs is a great idea. I know if I get up in the middle of the night and coming into contact with lights is a bad thing. I definitely prefer dimmer lights. I have to look into this flu.x. and replacing some bulbs. Thank you.

Dr. Mathew Walker talks about losing sleep - not getting your daily 7-9 hours (he says he allots / allows 9 hours per night himself) - you can never make them up. Says naps help, but it will not catch you up for sleep lost, which makes sense, as the different levels of sleep are progressive, and the body works the brain differently during each level (my understanding).

One thing about blue blocker glasses I just thought of, is if you are wearing them to aid in sleep, then they get used 1-2 hours prior to sleeping (and keep them near you so when you awake to take care of business, you can block the blue then also). Not really for wear when using computer or phone screens during the day - though if you do I believe they are marketed for eye strain relief.

Dr. Mathew also addresses sunglasses, and that they are a detriment when wearing throughout the day as you benefit from the 10,000 lux sun / daylight as this wakes up all of your cells / organs - everything with a circadian clock. And, if you want to sleep later, wear sunglasses in the morning to delay your awakening, then you can stay up longer (iirc this was for older folk..., like me lol).

Thanks for the tips s93uv3h. I think I may utilize a lightbox in the morning that I haven't been using and basically forgot about. Your post jogged my memory when you mentioned not wearing sunglasses.

Had to look up lightbox..., found these interesting articles:

Light Box Use for Phototherapy to Treat Circadian Disorders and SAD 11-3-19

Light Box Therapy 9-8-19

Dr. Walker talks about them and people who live in Norway etc. I guess cloudy areas affect people in this way also. I was stationed in Adak Alaska and there was a more remote outpost far to the west - Shemya, an Air Force airfield that was almost always socked in in dense sea fog, and they had a lot of medivacs (medical evacuations) for personnel issues with the lack of sunlight and I guess depression related afflictions.

I've recently started using a lightbox. I meditate every morning for anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour. That's when I have been using the lightbox along with using it when I am on the computer in the morning.. This is the one I have:

https://www.verilux.com/collections...rum-energy-lamp

It's smaller than most and less expensive. I am not sure if it is having an effect but since I am focusing lately on circadian rhythm and it is the dark cold season of the year here in Vermont I figured it couldn't hurt along with my nighttime dimming of the lights and eliminating blue light.

I really don't mind the darker winter weather which is a good thing since I live in the NW but feel the lightbox might help with sleep and mood. I'll have to look up those areas on a map s93uv. I've only been to Alaska once - it was seriously beautiful.

That's the one I chose Cotonpal - the smaller Verilux. Great idea to use while doing your morning meditation.
