Default Coffee make you sick?

Just wondering if it is the Atkins diet????????????
I used to start every day with 22 oz. of caffeine coffee, usually Green Mtn. Roasted and hated the few days when pending blood work made me wait until after the blood was drawn to have that first cup of coffee.
Then I started Atkins and refrained the first week, switching to an herbal tea. After a week, I bought a coffee and after two sips, found myself gagging and almost throwing up.
A week or so later, I tried another cup of coffee and had the same result only this time I actually had to stop the car and upchuck.
Since then I have had a cup or two of Twinings Irish Breakfast (which has caffeine) every day and have done well.
A week ago, after a long drive through the night to Maine, I wanted to wake myself up and bought a cup of coffee at Dunkin Donuts at 6 a.m. and sure enough, after a couple of sips....I was gagging again.
Is there something about Low carbing that would do this? Nothing else has changed in terms of what I like to eat, can eat etc. other than the fact I now eat a lot more protein, no fruit, few veggies...
Just wondering.

I personally haven't found that coffee makes me SICK, but have definitely found that it affects me much more than it ever used to in terms of jitteryness and a slight woozy feeling. I know we are supposed to stay away from coffee and artificial sweetners while on atkins, but I have a real hard time with that!....hope more people respond to your question as I'm curious too.
Good Luck,
Cappy

That's very strange. Never heard of such a thing. I was going to blame the caffeine, but if you can drink caffeinated tea, I guess that's not it.

Hi, I do find strong coffee makes me feel sick, though I have never been so. It can give me a bad head and stomach and a really queasy feeling. Not always though, and I'm prepared to risk it cos I do love a large, strong cappuccino!

I find if I drink more than one cup of coffee there is a laxative effect and cramps. This is good on those days when going is an issue. Didn't have this problem before LCing.

I really haven't a clue...

I was going to ask if you might be a little pregnant, since some pregancies cause women intolerances to certain foods they never had problems with previously....but I'm glad I read your profile, and saw that this couldn't be possible...you're MALE!!

never mind.....

Coffee is very very bad for you. It contains way too much acid which gives you heart burn, and the caffeine dehydrates you and other bad stuff. You must also watch the decaf, depending on the process that they use to remove the caffeine. I have discovered a healthy coffee with the caffeine and acid neutralized and amazing health benefits, including weight loss. Not sure if I can recommend products. Someone please let me know.

Yep, I used to get bad heartburn and it went away 100% within a day or two of starting LC, yet I still drink 1-3 cups of coffee a day.

I'm pretty sure it was the wheat products that did it.

As for the original question, I'm sorry I don't have any good advice for your lasert ... except for what my father used to tell me when I complained about something. I'd say "Dad, my arm hurts when I turn it this way" and he'd say "well don't do it then".

Maybe that's the best answer but it's not a very satisfying one, I know!

Emma
