Default Pains in side

Hi,.. I am on day 7 of ATKINS. Weight loss a little slow (only 5 pounds).. But I think the Nyquil I have had to take for this cold may be a problem. I should off that today.

Anyway... a little while ago I experienced some sharp pains in my right side..about five inches under my arm,..and then another a little lower. The pain felt more like a gas pain thatn a muscle spasm. They were pretty sharp..and kind of scared me. I just tightened up and tried to breathe deeply.. Then they went away.
Anyone have any pains like that?... could it be related at all to my new way of eating?

Hi there and welcome aboard! I have never heard of the pains you describe being associated with this WOL. But I would definitely check this out with your physician! It doesn't sound like something you want to mess around with. Sounds like you are off to a great start with your weight loss! I never lost very quickly in the beginning like some people do but it keeps coming off slow and steady. Colds are really awful, I hope you feel better soon. I had one last month and was taking nyquil and stuff. It may have slowed me down but when you have a cold you just don't really care! Hang in there and congrats on your great start! Cindi

Hello Chuck:
Not everything that we experience is due to starting an LC plan. If the pains happened ONCE, then the gas is a good bet and you can just continue. If it happens again, then your doctor is the source of advice you should follow, not people on a board who can't even see you and who have no medical training.

Gas pains can occur when you change the way you eat. But LCers have a lot LESS GAS than people eating hig carbs of wheat, sugar, starch, etc.

Yes, the Nyquil is full of sugar and you probably won't get into ketosis until you are finished with taking it. But the LCing is already working to get rid of exess fluid in your tissues and starting on the burning of fat.

Hope you feel good and continue well on LC.
