Default Anybody exercise on rebounder?

I just started exercising on a rebounder 3 days ago. At first I thought it was easy and wondered if I was really getting enough exercise on it but now my thighs and abs are sore and I guess it's working.

I would like to have the benefit of other's experience with this type exercise. Has it been beneficial for you? Thanks!

Default hi moussie

I've used a rebounder ... but it's just a cheapie thing from Walmart. You're right, you do get quite a workout with it .. but it's hard to find any set exercise routines anywhere. I found I got bored quickly, just "inventing" moves and jumping.

I've heard that rebounding is ideal for those with joint problems, since the springy mat absorbs the impact of the downward movement. It's also supposed to be good for improving lymphatic cirulation, with the alternate acceleration/deceleration.

(p.s. - I moved your post to the main Exercise forum so that more folks will see and read )

I used to own a rebounder and found it beneficial to have around on rainy days when I couldn't work out outdoors. I think if you're experiencing soreness that means it's doing you some good. As Doreen said, you can "invent" different ways to bounce on it and this will add variety to your workouts. I jumped on it two feet at a time, alternated one foot and then the other, and even "ran in place" on the darn thing. As you get more fit you may find it's not enough of a workout, but the workouts you can get on it are nothing to sneeze at, IMHO.

I'm definitely getting a workout. My muscles are VERY sore. I'm going to keep using it for a while at least when I can't walk outside because I believe it's actually more effective than just the walking since I'm so sore. I bounce around like crazy-dancing sort of-or running in place and swinging my arms too so I feel very energized afterwards. I definitely did not want to do it to begin with at 6:10 a.m. this morning but once I started I enjoyed it and felt great all day.

Cool hi moussie

Well, you've got me motivated to re-investigate ordering a Needak rebounder. Ya, it's expensive, but it folds in half and easy to store (I live in a small apartment). You're right that it would be good to have for those winter days when venturing outdoors is downright dangerous!

Keep up the good work, and thanks for inspiring

I'm so glad to hear I inspired you. Thank you. Another thing I love about this rebounding is I can't run because of bad back/knees but this doesn't hurt - I guess because of the bounce. I love this so far!

I'm continuing to use my rebounder and it is definitely improving the muscle tone in my thighs and arms.
