If anyone has a costco nearby they have 95% pork sausages that are very nice, IIRC 2.2kg for about £5. It was cheaper than supermarkets anyway.

Also they have 1kg of prawns for under £8
9 fillets of smoked peppered mackeral for £3.50
2kg of chicken thigh for £4.50
2 tubs of splenda for under £4

For a really good whey protein powder go to www.myprotein.co.uk

And for 5% off your first order use my code MP20180

Tesco 8 Wild Alaskan Salmon Fillets 800g
HALF PRICE Was £10.00 Now £5.00 until 20/01/2009

These are Chum Salmon which is only 4% fat, compared to more like 13% for Scottish salmon. If thats a bad thing for your LC plan, add plenty of butter or mayonnaise

Holland and Barrett have 500g bags of sunflower seeds at £2.25, buy one get one free. That works out to about £1 per pound, compared to Tesco which is charging 98p per 100g.
Home ground sunflower seeds make a great substitute for ground almonds for LC baking.

Don't know if it's the same over there, but Dunnes are selling quails eggs at 1.99 euro per dozen. That's about half price and they make a great little snack.

Bumping this up as it has been really useful to me.

If you are stuck out at lunch time, Asda has small packets 70g of ham for 50p and single slices of pate 2 for £1. Add a packet of salad and there is lunch!

Hi, I am new here, and live in the UK.

Just a quick note to say that the other day in Asda, I noticed that they have a low-carb taramasalata available in the Kosher/Halal/Ethnic refridgerated foods section.

It claimed 0 carbs per 100g on the label, and didn't have the breadcrumb thickener in that their normal taramasalata has.

It made a delicious lunch, with some crunchy celery!

M&S have single serving clotted cream 69p for 56g. Great if you have portion control issues! LOL!

Where can I buy coconut oil in NE England please? I tried my local health food shop & they tried to sell me a small jar of coconut butter for £8 odd, saying there was no such thing as coconut oil!!

Coconut oil is a white solid at normal UK room temperatures, though the contents of my jar did liquefy during the heatwave last week...

Price-wise, £8 for a small jar from a health food shop sounds about right, unfortunately. I got a jar of Tiana organic virgin coconut oil for about the same price from a branch of Nutricentre. I suspect I may need to shop online for better value...

Thank you so much, I really thought it was a rip off price at my local shop. I had seen it on line for £1.49 per 500ml but I thought it would be easier to buy it locally. I also didn't know that it was solid at room temperature. Ignorance is not bliss.

I buy mine at my local Indian food market. MUCH less than health food stores. KTC brand is £1.50 ish for 500 ml. Try to avoid the small size in a glass bottle as you have to heat it to get it out. It is flavourless.

Thank you both, I would like to try it because I'd read so much about it in the forum but didn't want to spend a lot on it just to find I didn't like it. I might just stick to lard to cook with.
