Plank Challenge

Start Date: Jan 23

Done:
Day 1: 20 seconds (20 - e)
Day 2: 20 seconds (25 - e)
Day 3: 20 seconds (30 - e)
Day 4: 25 seconds (30 - e)
Day 5: 30 seconds (45 - e)
Day 6: 30 seconds (40 - e)
Day 7: 35 seconds (50 - e)
Day 8: 40 seconds (45 - n)
Day 9: 40 seconds (55 - e)
Day 10: 45 seconds (45 - n)
Day 11: 50 seconds (65 - e)
Day 12: 50 seconds (30 - n, 40 - e)

Next:
Day 13: 55 seconds
Day 14: 60 seconds
Day 15: 60 seconds
Day 16: 65 seconds
Day 17: 70 seconds
Day 18: 70 seconds
Day 19: 75 seconds
Day 20: 80 seconds
Day 21: 80 seconds
Day 22: 85 seconds
Day 23: 90 seconds
Day 24: 90 seconds
Day 25: 100 seconds
Day 26: 100 seconds
Day 27: 105 seconds
Day 28: 110 seconds
Day 29: 115 seconds
Day 30: 120 seconds

Had to split today's into 2 shorter sets. My shoulders seem to be breaking down a bit and getting worse each day. I'm going to keep pushing on, but we will see if I do multiple short sets and see if that helps. I have read a few places that multiple 30 second ones is better for your body than one longer one, so we will see.

The numbers in the parentheses are how many seconds I'm actually doing it, but it's a struggle to get there. My stomach/core feels perpetually sore as it doesn't have a recovery day. I'm now varying between the normal ones (on your elbows) and the extended one (like a pushup). I do better with the extended ones. I shake a lot more with the normal ones and can't go as far. I do find they work different muscles so am trying to use that to help mitigate the soreness.

That said, I want to keep this up to see how far I can go. So glad that you and Nichole talked about this and you put the challenge together. Hang in there and keep working!
I think you may be right about a complete newbie going from 20 seconds to 2 minutes in 30 days Jeff. I just googled plank challenges and thought I'd picked an easy one. Obviously not

However, like you, I want to see how far I can go. I do want to try to do a plank a day going forward even if it's not at the same pace of the schedule I posted at the beginning. After all, I did state "sign up to do a plank every day for the next 30 days (and beyond!) and post your daily times here" and the schedule was only a guide, so as long as we're planking, we're winning!

If it works for you, then go for it Jeff. Perhaps throw a rest day in now and again too.

Yeah... I'm completely off the rails here and haven't done them since whatever day the 17th of the contest was. Maybe the 10th? I think we should be finishing up within the next week based on a Jan 23rd start date.

I hope you two are doing better than I am.

I'm not as I've been ill. Have decided to start again in a week or two once I am feeling completely better.

My plan is to just do a plank every day, regardless of the timings. If I increase my time, great, if I don't, well I'll still be winning by planking anyway.
