Default Pant sizes shrinking!?!

I went shopping last weekend and tried on some pants and actually bought a new pair - in a size 6!! Now, I've been an 8 for a year now and although I have lost a few inches because of exercise, my 8's were still comfortable and all still fit me fine... Well, I bought a new pair of size 8's from Old Navy and when I put them on they were HUGE! I *should* have bought a 6, but it's too late now (tags are off). Why are pants getting bigger??? Is it just a marketing gimic to sell more pants? The whole "wow, these pants look horrid - but look, I'm a size 6 instead of an 8 so I MUST buy them" type of deal... I know I'm not a 6, but here I am... Buying 6's. Odd.

Just wondering if anyone else noticed this.

I have noticed the same thing (and i would try and return the pants if you still have the tags even if they are off and see what happens) but just chalk it up to my body changing. I got 4 polos last week- 2 small and 2 XL! So i think the sizes are all wacky.
have fun in your 6s!
