I haven't taken any for months now, but thought I'd start again this week... and see how it affects me. I haven't really taken it since my original big loss earlier on in this thread.

Jumping from another thread....

I took CLA years ago when I was working out steadily with weights. Yeah, the scale doesn't move as much, but if you measure your fat percentage, you'll see it start to go down. My experience, anyway. When I had to stop working out, I kept weighing and checking my BFP and I noticed that it stayed the same, even though I was not doing resistance training and, therefore, building or keeping lean mass. About a month after I stopped taking it, the BFP started to go up very gradually. I realize not everything is going to work the same for everyone, and I wasn't doing LC at that point, but it worked for me. The recommended dosage is 3000mg per day. Tonalin, as well as most other brands, are 1000 mg capsules, but the actual CLA is about 80% with the other 20% being carriers. So, actually, if you take 3 1000 mg capsules ~ 80% you're getting 2400 mg of CLA. I take 4 per day, which is 3200 mg. I have no problem with IR; I only took them and am taking them again to retain lean muscle mass during weight loss.

Hope this helps!

This thread went very quiet. I was thinking of trying CLA GLA. I was wondering if those that have posted on this thread have seen steady decreases in body fat/inches since early Aug.

Yes, absolutely.

Perhaps you'd like to peruse my photographs in my gallery. Have a look at them all, esp the red top and jeans compared to the most recent pic taken last weekend.

I have very little abdo fat now. I put it down to the CLA, diet and of course, exercise.
I take it on and off for a few weeks at a time then give it a rest.

Hope that helps.

Wow, you look great! Good job! I'm going to give CLA a whirl and see what happens. Do you take Evening Primrose or Borage?

Yes, this thread did quiet down quite a bit.

I was taking CLA/GLA combo for awhile, and then abruptly stopped.

Recently, I've been seeing a naturopathic doctor, and he recommended taking the CLA, and so am back on it as of yesterday. I use the liquid Tonalin CLA-- 1/2 tbsp. supplies 3500 mgs.

I rather like the convenience of the liquid, as I take a lot of supplements, and it is just a lot easier.

I will be seeing him again on Wednesday, and I will ask what his take is on the GLA also.

I'm going to start taking CLA along with exercise and diet to see if I get any results. My waist right now is 35 inch.

Question Opinion...

Hi guys!
I just received my combo last night. In your opinion is there a diet plan beter suited for it?
I have been doing Stillmans which is meat and egg and very low fat. Since the combo is a fat and works on fat and most people who use it seem to be doing Atkins which is a higher fat diet, do you think I should stick with Atkins? (I've been switching back and forth)

Any input would be helpful!!

Also do you take it once a day or throughout the day and do you think evening is better than morning or doesn't it matter?

Thanks so much guys, here's to some success for us all!

Twitime,

Really can't advise about which WOE you should follow, but as far as taking the CLA/GLA combo, I've read recently that if you take EFAs, you should wait 3 hours before taking the combo so that they don't interfere with one another.

I take mine in the morning.

I am on Atkins, and am in OWL, and my opinion is that switching WOEs is not the best route to take, and my opinion is based on a great deal of reading.

Good luck w/the combo........I've recently had the go ahead from my doctor to take it.

Unhappy

does anyone have any comments on this opposing article on whether CLA worsens insulin resistance or not?

http://www.jlr.org/cgi/content/abst...700195-JLR200v1 published September 2007

this makes me nervous about taking CLA, frankly.
