Default Best way to eat for Fibros/ Elimination diet?

Hi, I was just diagnosed with fibromyalgia yesterday.

Now I've got to get back on track. My main problem is that I am constantly exhausted. I was given some muscle relaxants to help me sleep better, but I know diet is a big deal. I've been takinga multi vitamin multi mineral, calcium and vitamin D.

I've read that elimination diets seem to help people figure out what they're main problem foods are. I'm just not sure what to eliminate? I read somewhere that you should eliminate obviously wheat, sugar... then i read eggs, tomatoes, dairy, nightshade vegetables, citrus fruits, animal meats...

I'm not sure what kind of foods are left besides salad... and can someone really live on salad alone, even for two weeks?

Let me know what you guys are doing and what seems to be working. I'm also trying to uncover a pretty blatant thyroid problem as well.

Hi, Aetheana...

sorry to hear of your diagnosis.

Most fibromyalgia sufferers find that getting rid of grains and/or gluten is all that needs to be done. I become completely pain free when I follow a low carb plan, without any frankenfoods.

This is my typical daily intake on maintenance:

Coffee (sweet/low, cream)
2 eggs, breakfast meat, apple (breakfast)
meat, green vegs, berries (lunch) - sometimes I add a little cheese
meat, green vegs (dinner)

Total calories: ~1300-1500
Grams of carbs: ~75

Check out www.celiac.com for info on eliminating gluten from the diet.

Also good for relieving symptoms is a two week program of 1000 mg vitamin C and 150 mg organic oregano oil every hour. This detoxifies the body and reduces inflammation.

Frankenfoods are basically, anything that is processed in order to be able to eat it...yes, hotdog is an example.
