Smile I'm a Newbie!

I'll soon be 68 years old and have been fighting Bipolar/Seizure/Panic & Post Traumatic Stress Disorders FOREVER and have been on every medication known to mankind... or so it seems, and have been hospitalized more times than I'd like to admit. On the plus side, I'm doing better than at any time in my life! I'm also on a boatload of medications which, as you all know, raise havoc with weight and I fight that battle each and every day. The current "cocktail" is Remeron, Amitriptyline, Xanax with the latest addition being Topomax. Whoopie! Probably like most of you, I need all the support I can get, and it's hard to come by. I would love to hear from any of you and I would be glad to be able to offer any help, advice and comfort. Thanks for listening!

Sande, so nice to meet you. I too am new. With all the medication you have been on - are you finding you are winning the battle of fighting with Bipolar/Seizure/Panic & Post Traumatic Stress Disorders? That is quite a combination. I might even have Panic jsut thinking about the scariness of having an unexpected seizure... gosh. How long ago was your trigger for your Post Traumatic Stress Disorder? How are you coping with your Panic attacks? I have knowledge of how these disorders effect ones life first hand. Are you in counseling? I am here if ever you would like to visit.... take good care of yourself.

Thumbs down Dear uniquesoul

Thank you so much for your response. The trigger to my post-traumatic stress: I was an incest/physical/psychological abuse victim from ages 2-17. The memories were mostly repressed until my mid-40's. The bipolar/anxiety/seizure disorders are genetic, so I'm a real mixed bag. I've been in therapy for 23 years, but have needed it less in the past 10 years. I've had the miracle of a wonderful psychiatrist and psych staff who have followed me through this awesome journey. Please keep in touch. Thank you for caring.
