My weight loss has slowed down, even though I haven't done anything different. Trying realhard this week, hopefully I will see some good results.

Hi all...

Sorry for not signing in recently, but I've been having some serious health issues. I finally got into a neurologist yesterday who thinks I'm suffering from transverse myelitis. Basically it's affecting my ability to walk, as I'm having weakness in my legs with a whole host of other problems. The lack of activity has caused edema (and therfore my weight's been going up and down like a yo-yo).

My bloodpressure, ironically, has dropped a lot, so my doctor took me off my water pills. So I automatically added about four pounds overnight one day

Overall though, I've brought my weight back down to where I was, but it's a constant struggle right now.

I hope everyone is doing well on SBD though and haning in there!

Skalar, I'm so sorry to read about your health problems! I hope that it all resolves quickly for you.

Char, Good idea if you won't be around. But please.....stay as close to your plan as possible over the summer!! Don't stop weighing regularly and walking!!

Hi guys, I'm a newbie and I am currently on Atkins Induction. I have lost 6.4 pounds since Saturday 6/19! I plan to go to South Beach after induction as it is much more realistic for me long term. I have been lurking here all day at work and I really like the board here, everyone is so supportive. Judy, I read your success story and want to congratulate you and tell you that I admire that you stick around to motivate others!

I look forward to weigh in Monday!

I need to share with you that it'd be wise for you to do phase I of South Beach before you go onto phase II. Phase I will raise your carb level (about 60 grams a day)substantially from Atkins Induction and its really best to raise it slowly.....very slowly.

Hello Latana! Welcome to the Beach!
I second what Judy said about adding the crabs slowly! I just added for the first time since my 2 weeks Phase 1 a small amount of Whole Wheat Pasta last night with dinner and I am up 1 lbs from yesterday! Yikes I think I will stay away from the Pasta from now on.

Thank you. I was wondering which would be better. I appreciate your advice.

I wouldn't worry about an overnight gain, we all fluctuate on a daily basis, it's the weekly weigh in that counts! (I've lost 80-100 lbs twice before - low calorie and low fat.)

First of all, thats a water weight gain, not a true weight.
Second, it is in all of our best interest to see things like whole wheat pasta in reality of what it is....a highly processed grain product.....a starchy food best left to maintenance. Even if it is whole grain, flour isn't a good choice for weight loss, in my experience.
So, when chosing a starch to have with dinner, look for those that are whole and unprocessed, ie: winter squashes, sweet potato, peas and carrots, servings of a whole grain are 1/2 cup: quinoa, brown rice, etc.
Save the processed starches(breads, pastas) for after you reach your goal or are losing your last 10 pounds.
If you need a noodle fix, the Miracle Noodles work for many people.
