I have started using somersizing again. I used it first in 2002 and lost 40lbs. I stopped and gained. I am now trying it again. Lost 2lbs in the first week, didnt stick to it well over the weekend. But I had been gaining the whole winter.

My first stint into the low-carb world was with Somersizing. I did it sucessfully for over two years and was very happy with the results.

It works and it works well! Just can't get overconfident and slide back into bad habits..

The key, I believe, is to keep the carb meals to a bare minium to keep your insulin stable and cravings for sugars at bay.
I loved having mixed berry/mango smoothies in the morn and my DH and I lost 35+ lbs each in a short amount of time. I have all her Somersizing books and use the recipes to this day, all the time. Her pro/fat options are also very Atkins friendly and I just love her attitude and her explanations of how sugar effects the body are very easy to understand.

That said, I would rather be able to incorporate nuts, avocado, etc..and stay away from the carb options, so Atkins is a better fit for me in the long term.

It's an excellent program, if followed correctly, and was the perfect gateway into the lc world for me.
Incidentally, my daughter just started SSing 3 weeks ago and she's loving it. She is also avoiding too many carb/veg meals...once in a while having oatmeal with skim milk but that's it. She feels great and has dropped 12 lbs.

Thumbs up!!

Hello KarlaRose and Deezil,

thank you very much for your encouraging replies. I restarted SSing recently and hope that it works for me too. Did You know that there is a Somersizing support group on the Lefora Forums? I have become a member. It seems to be the only Somersizing forum that is constantly active. People there are very friendly and helpful.

Good luck to all of us!

Makapl,

I was a somersizer about 8 yrs. ago. The plan was very delish, easy to follow, but I lost no weight. I was about 157lbs. at 5 ft. 8. I then followed Atkins and dropped lots, lots of weight. Maybe its different for different people, it has worked for many, but not for me
Best of Luck!!!
