Talking Icedancers Workout log

Ok, 1st day of tracking my workouts!

Woke up this morning 5am, walked to gym, then:

Treadmill: 30 min 4 mph
Stretching: 15 min
Dumbells: 25lbs, various uses

The dumbell at 25 lbs are used by me to increase core body strength for my ice dancing. Most of the exercises I do are basic calesthetics that I have added the dumbells to as hand weights.

Dumbells: 50 lbs, Used for squats, and over head.

Dumbells: 85 lbs, bench press

Finished 1 hour 5 mins off to work.

Lunch: 20 mins Stair Master, level 10

Ab crunches: 10 mins

Back to work

After work:

Treadmill: 30 min 6 mph
Stretching: 15 min
Leg Press: 3 x 10 x 850 lbs
Squats: 2 x 5 x 200 lbs

I'm dead, finished up with 10 more mins light stetching on the floor. Off to the showers.

Merry Christmas!

What a day!

1st off great day because of being down to 206 lbs that's 9 lbs in 11 days! Hey I'll take it! Any way cardio and all went so easy today. Must be the body is noticing that the extra weight is gone and it's having an easier time of it, sooooo I picked up the pace a bit more!

Treadmill: 45 mins interval type training as usual

DB's: Used 50 lbs ones for the 1st time in a while, felt good, died on the last rep though.

AB crunches: 3 x 25

Leg presses: 3 x 10 x 850 lbs

Didn't really get much out of the leg presses, way too easy but didn't really feel like loading more weight, (everyone was complaining any way cause I was using so many weight plates)

So I backed it down to 600 lbs and did one leg at a time;

3 x 10 x 600 = legs are jelly, but it was intense, actually got applause weird huh?

20 mins on the mats, stretching, stretching, this is the hardest thing for me to do, I am so not limber!!!

Note to self: next lifetime, stretch while I'm young!

Default Last night

I didn't work out last night, a little too sore still, lot's tired low energy, went to my room, watched a little of the Mummy, along with some stretching on my bed..... went to sleep a little after the mummy took that guys eye balls, just a little too sleepy!

Woke up feeling fairly refreshed, still a little sore, wish I could soak in Epson Salts but here we only have showers
When I get home, I'm sure I will do it! Just 4 more days until I'm home!!!

The neatist thing I've found is Wal-mart sells epson salts in reclosable plastic bags for like $1.09, so cheap! The last few times I've bought a case at a time! The ice dancing only "looks" easy, beleive me, it's not!

Default 12/30/2002 afternoon wo

This afternoon instead of lunch I did upper body, dumbells, my arms are shot!

Also did about 15 mins of wind sprints!

Feeling a little better about every thing, hopefully the cafeine withdrawl symtoms will be over by tomorrow, cause it really sucks!

Talking 1st day of 2003!

Totally over the caffeine withdrawls, that was a lot harder than I thought it would be, part of the problem was probably the fact I'm at work for 12-14 hours a day with nothing to distract me, so the distraction is getting up and getting coffee and cokes...

Going home 1st thing tomorrow so taking it easy on myself, letting the body heal up for I do know that I'll certainly be ice dancing my butt off for the next 2 weeks!

Default Rescued from page 2!

Well I'm back at work and ready to hit the gym tonight! I really did ice skate a lot the last 2 weeks, plus the added stress of new boots to break in, really hard on the feet, and when your feet hurt your whole body hurts. Suffered much in the way of cramps of the calves and even had upper back pain from the OD (Original Dance) that my partner and I have to perfect, which requires me to lift her, and we practiced that a lot! So now I've given myself a couple days off to rest and recover and now feel up to the work outs again.
There really is a fine line between working out and over working out! When I get close to that line, I feel very drug out and tired all the time, and even a good nights sleep doesn't do the trick. Now I really feel rested!

I'll report tomorrow morning what I actually do in my workout tonight after work,

Later,

Carl

Default Last nights workout.

Well, last night I did 45 mins on the tread mill at a very fast walk, then got off the tread mill and did wind sprints for about 15 mins on the track. With that done I focused on stretching and some pushups and pull ups. The pull ups are still hard for me... in elementary school I could do a hundred of them. Now with the extra weight I have, I can do 2 or 3 and am exhausted! Well, I know that if I just keep it up in a few months I'll be ripping through 20 or 30..... hopefully.

That's all for last night, and the nice thing is I am not at all sore today, so tonight, I must push harder!

Default WOW!

I just have to comment and second the comment "Holy Poop!" LOL I am only 6 weeks into this but feel so alive for the first time. Funny thing is I have been having dream about ice skating...isn't that incredible? I have only attempted to do so twice in my youth ( al very long time agao) and I remeber it as being very stiff and painful. Not at all like the gracefulness I feel in my dreams. Enough said. Thanks for your posts...you are an inspiration!

Default Thanks Sillychili,

I just had to type Sillychili, it looked like so much fun!

Anyway, it is amazing how much work goes into figure skating in general and Ice Dancing as a whole. We spend hours and hours on and off ice to make it look so nice and easy, and when you've done your job, many times your reward is that every day people will be inspired to try it out for themselves!

Of course we have the other effect which is "IS ICE DANCING REALLY A SPORT" and to that all I can say is for anyone who doubts it, just needs to strap on a pair of skates and see how hard it really is!

Anyway, much of the off ice training I do is at my workplace which is of course in Prudhoe Bay Alaska and my work location. I have 2 weeks away from home while I work and nothing to do in the evenings except workout.... no distractions, sometimes I have to cut back because I realize that I'm over working my self and need the rest, I have to make myself go and watch TV!!!!!

Any way right now I'm really focusing on Core body strenght. I'm going to start with the medicine ball and exercise ball tonight. That should be a blast!

Well thanks for stopping by and saying hi,

Later,

Carl

Talking Nosey me!

Ice skating (dancing) is not only a sport but a beautiful one..how many football players can say that, hmm? I have my doubts about baseball being a sport though...LOL...oh oh..I may have to be careful now. May I ask you what your history is? I see your stats and wonder. My name is fun isn't it...If it was already in use I would have used my pup's name. Try writing "Mooshkadoodlebutt"...better yet try saying it a few times... Peace, Anita AKA Sillychili
