It's a Southern tradition that you make it like your mama did, but if you do want to try a great commercial version first, look for Palmetto Cheese from Pawley's Island.
Our Costco carries two flavors (3 at the holidays) but that may vary by region. Having a large tub of it means I overuse it on everything...topping for a Hamburger (ala Varsity in Atlanta) is LC heaven, in scrambled eggs, creamy goodness.
Their recipe uses Hellman's mayo which means soybean oil, but I give Palmetto Cheese a pass on the soy content.
