Talking Hi from Pennsylvania

My wife and I have been living a quasi-Atkins WOL for a year now. Between us we've lost a small child (85 lbs.) 40 lbs. for Mary Ellen and 45 for me (Dan).

We've begun to add in exerise. We purchased a treadmill, weight machine and free weights, then hired a personal trainer for 4 sessions to work out a program and teach us good form. We're two weeks into this WOL and beginning to see some benefit. Of course we're still working through the sore muscles stage.

Our goals are to lose another 20-30 lbs and to increase strength and flexibility. Mary Ellen has a family history of arthritis so she wants to strengthen joint supporting structures and retain/improve flexibilty. My goal is to look good naked. (HA!) Not that anyone excepting Mary Ellen will ever know about that...

A number of our friends and work associates have started low-carb. It does seem to be catching on. Our plan is to start a low-carb support group here in Williamsport, PA. If there are forum members in the area, we've be pleased to have you attend. Send me an email for time and directions to the meeting.

This site is a wonderful resource. My thanks to tamarian, karen and may others for creating and maintaining it.

If you haven't already, you may want to post this in the Local Low Carbers and Support Group thread.

Best of luck to you and your wife.
