Default D3 and Fish oils

I was perusing the internet and found some studies that suggest that high levels of D3 might be linked to prostate cancer. Also I found articles that linked higher levels of fish oil to prostate cancer.

What the heck -- makes me want to ditch all supplements

Don't ditch the supplements, ditch the articles.

Those are FUD articles, deliberately written to sow Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt.

If you believe the articles, you don't take the supplements. You don't take the supplements, you get sicker. The sicker you get, the more money is made by Pharma.

Do your own research.

My research shows that high dose vitamin D3 can put prostrate cancer into remission.

See, that's also a link between high dose vitamin D3 and and prostrate cancer.

Use a tempered rational approach - don't use FUD articles or CA suggestions. It's probably somewhere more in the middle

There is a new drug which has been advertising on the TV in the US recently and their focus is on telling people to stop taking the fish oil supplements and start taking their drug instead.
I couldn't even believe my ears when I first heard it, but that's what it said.

I totally understand -- The D3 thing I'm pretty sure is just wrong. The fish oil stats do show up an awfully lot when you google fish oil and prostate cancer -- they try to say cancer shows up 71% more in men with high levels of omega threes and less in men with really low levels. Sounds weird. maybe those studies were funded by the pharma industry.

I take fish oil and D3 every single day. I don't read those types of articles. Be well, be confident that the majority of the experts can merely claim correlation with prostate cancer and many other terrible things, but they don't have any idea of the root cause. Note that breathing air is always involved as well, so that's another correlation that I'm not going to consider. I've found that on the whole, I do much better when I'm breathing.

I have a feeling that the use of fish oil (multiple brands) is a multimillion dollar business and if they can take that market segment and have them buy their drug instead, they would have gold mine. In other words it's all a marketing campaign aka propaganda, putting out false information to scare the public.

This happened with aspirin. Remember the campaigns to switch the population over to Tylenol?

I eat a lot of salmon and try to eat more sardines. And there's my daily cod liver oil for dental health. Recently read about oxidation of supplements.

Fishing for answers: is oxidation of fish oil supplements a problem?

I wonder which populations were studied to get the conclusion of a link between high levels of D3 and cancer.

I assume it's not Canada where most people are deficient in D3

Right ! Eat real food.

Krill is used as an omega -3 supplement. And the peguin populations living at the Antartic has declined by 50-70% depending on species. Is our greed for krill starving these penguins???

Usually I can "feel" -- right away -- whether a supplement is doing me good or not. That wasn't the case with D3; two months in, I got a "surge of well-being" that I still enjoy. I seem to have increased resistance to whatever is going around since I started talking it.

Always with K2!

I finally think I found one for my needs that I like pretty well after reading everything written here on the forum as guidance.

Supplement Facts
Serving Size: 1 Softgel
Amount Per Serving % Daily Value
Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) 1000 IU 250%
Vitamin K2 (menaquinone, MK-7) (natto bean) 120 mcg 150%

Other Ingredients
Softgel (gelatin, glycerin, purified water, caramel, titanium dioxide), medium chain triglycerides (coconut), yellow beeswax, soy lecithin.

I like that the cap is made of geletin instead of wood pulp.
The K2 is from Natto not chickpeas as another product
had that I threw away because the company wouldn't
give me a carb count and it probably takes 50 lbs of chickpeas
to extract enough K-2 which I didn't even know they had.

But the one bother to me is the titanium dioxide
which I looked up and is allowed by FDA to contain
some level of arsenic. If they would get rid of that
ingredient it would be close to perfect.
Made in Canada too

Saw this commercial last night, and they're going against fish oil supplements that contain unhealthy saturated fats and are not FDA approved. This prescription supposedly lowers triglycerides and can be prescribed with statins for heart health. The name is Vascepa: https://www.vascepa.com

It's being marketed as the healthy alternative to those unhealthy fish oil supplements. Unbelievable, as the commercial is designed to prey on seniors who have high triglycerides and heart concerns. The commercial can be played on their website.
