Default "Green" smoothie Smack Down!

My sister and I are exactly the same but totally different
and we have a little something competitive going on from time to time (ok all the time)

she eats higher carb lower fat
but we believe in eating from a wide selection of fresh "whole" foods and consider refined carbs to be crap for your body

we actually believe it or not, compete in how healthy we can be when we are together! it is very funny as we have glass of wine get totally buzzed and then get creative and competitive over making a salad or curry or whatever! who can put the most healthy things in!

We do cave and have some crap sometimes, but it is rare!

Our morning tradtion is to see how hard core we can go with our traditional "green" breakfast smoothie

the only rule we have is no meat, fish or seafood in the blender

want to join my pre visit smoothie smack down as I prepare my body and mind for this sister to sister comp?

actually I just wanted to start a thread and see if anyone else was or wanted to be a green smoothie freak and had some new ideas for me? and if you are not already maybe something new and fun for you to try? nothing actually has to be green!

it can be induction friendly or fit almost any plan

(except the all meat diet unless you are that hard core you would make a meat and water smoothie, then good for you and I dare you to post pics of you drinking it!)

there is no way this is hard unless you do not have a blender. You can pour this in a cup and run out the door so no excuse for not eating!

and I do not care how bad you think a vegetable in the blender can taste it is no where close to the horrific flavor of an Atkins shake, way cheaper, so much better for you and does not take but a min to make!

Please share your low carb smoothies, egg cream, anything wonderful and healthy in the blender? fancy made up names would be great too!!

mine for today is

The Morning Funk Shredder

2 eggs
1 big kale leaf
1 stalk celery
1/4 cup coconut milk
1 inch of fresh ginger
and a dash of stevia
start blender and add just enough water and ice to get it to puree
pour in glass, sip, chew AND VIP CHECK YOUR TEETH BEFORE SMILING AT YOUR BOSS

Sounds like you need a juicer! My mom was a juicing freak at one point, she'd put the most god awful stuff through that thing and make us drink it. Do you have any idea of how awful celery juice is? GAG!

but Nancy the chewy parts are what makes it so hard core!!!

you know honestly the thing that bothered me about a juicer was all the waste! I like whole (literally whole as in entire) food! and taking everything but the juice out would make me feel badly

I bet celery juice is awful alone but a stalk of celery in the smoothie this morning was good this one I just had is a good one ..chewy yes but very good!

these smooties can be fantastic and they can also be "OMG JUST SWALLOW IT YOU WILL NOT DIE" bad

there is a sweet Salvadoran Salada drink that is really salad in a glass with juice I am going to try to make it with my ginger beer and see how it is

Virtuous fatty numbers, real slacker protein numbers! ...if at all possible, I like to get more protein in, try to match the fats, in the a.m. feed...Throw in another egg, and I'd be very interested.

Me, I like my "green" breakfast drinkable to contain chocolate and coffee, so allow myself the treat by using organic and fairtrade ingredients! Also a great fan of true dairy, so organic grass-fed (high CLA) cream added makes a lovely treat.

2 large veggie-fed eggs
3 Tbsp heavy organic (grass-fed if you can find it) cream
2 Tsp dark organic cocoa
1 Tbsp freshly and very finely ground fairtrade espresso/dark roast coffee beans
Splenda/Lo Han sweetener to taste
pinch sea salt
filtered water ~ 3/4 C
2-3 ice cubes

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Good way to start the day, and I'll have my fiber at lunch, thanks .

thanks! I am forgetting the salt!!! I can not believe it

that is what gives a smoothie the best texture!

I have to try more chocolatey ones

since I have all this fresh ginger and love dark chocolate and ginger together you got me thinking now
