Thumbs down Registered Diabetic speaks out on Ketostix

Hi,
I just read the thread on Boots refusing to sell Ketostix. As has already been said, the Boots staff are telling you enormous porkies.

As a diabetic (type 2, diet only - soon to be ex-diabetic due to Atkins HA!) I can categorically tell you that Diastix and Ketostix are NOT prescription items and ARE freely available over the counter.

In fact, as far as that goes, you can buy blood-testing equipment, strips and lances over the counter too, and surely that's a little more serious than testing your pee?

As I'm only on day two of Atkins (and feeling great, eating better than I have done for years) I haven't yet got to Boots for my Ketostix (my previous tube is out of date now) - it's going to be REALLY interesting to see their response!!

And I will have the greatest of pleasure in looking him/her in the eye and saying "I'm a registered diabetic chum, if it's any business of yours, and why didn't you ask me that the last time i bought them here????"

I'll let you know how I got on.
Tricia
