Default safety of fat burners?

Trainerdan,
are fat burners safe for everyone? What about if I am on 40 mgs of prozac, am fairly fit, but have a high body fat % (if that makes any sense) and have a history of anorexia (ancient history, 13 years ago). thanks, Doods

Default sorry ...

If you are on Prozac, you should NOT take an ephedrine/caffeine based supplement. There is a warning on the label of ephedrine based products about MAOI drugs and their interaction with ephedrine.

Prozac (along with with Paxil, Zoloft, and many others) are MAOI class drugs.

Even when you stop taking these drugs, you still can not take an ephedrine based supplement for at least 2 more weeks.

Just lookin' out for ya ...

Default no problem

Besides, isn't ephedrine considered a Schedule III drug in Ireland? 2 years ago I went over there to run in a marathon, and I researched the legality of ephedrine in Ireland.

I was told that it IS considered a drug there ... so I couldn't bring my pre-run boost of Ultimate Orange drink.

But some of the "hardcore" gyms over there (and the occasional supplement store ... I think the one that is on a side street just off McConnell St. is a good one) do carry products with names like Chest-Eze and DoDo's that reportedly contain ephedra.

But Dan, Prozac ISN'T an MAOI. I thought that when I read your post, but as usual, didn't trust myself. Prozac belongs to the newer SSRI group, and in fact there are warnings all over prozac itself not to mix it with MAOI's.
I don't know about the legality of the fat burners here. However it wouldn't surprise me if it was illegal. We have only been allowed buy condoms over the counter in the last 10 or 15 years!
Thanks, Doods.

Default Ok

I am sorry that I confused Prozac with the rest of teh MAOI ... I will admit to assuming that since it is prescribed for the same sorts of issues that the others are, that it too would be an MAOI.

I still am not sure that it should be mixed with ephedrine. Guess I will be doing some research ...
