Question introduction to weights

May I have some suggestions from the moderators on how to begin an introduction to weights?

It has been a while since I did them.

Now that I am involved in health as a profession I want to walk the walk.

I don't have a problem gaining weight if it is muscle because I love how much better I look toned.

My body seems to respond very well to any exercise.
I like a regimen so I can track what I do by ticking each thing off.

My waist tends to be thick but I am lucky that I have a very proportioned body.
Thank you!
