Heat, HEAT?! I am such an idiot! I didn't bother to look at the actual recipe, just mixed everything together... D'oh! Oh well, now I know why my stuff yesterday didn't work. Which means I've now wasted another batch. Sigh...

No... I wound up turning it into a weird kind of ice cream, just so I didn't waste it.

Heh. No, I did have an idea it was an old English pudding/dessert, but that was about it. So thanks for posting such a fascinating story!
