Default Sleep apnea caused by sugar?

I use the SleepyHead program to analyze my sleep with cpap.

It gives you terrific data. It made me curious I've been stressed and fighting off illness and eating lots of carbs. Last night I had 6 obstructive apnea and 2 hypopneas. About 3x as many as usual.

I found plenty of research showing sleep apnea raising blood sugar. Could the reverse be true that sugar (or blood sugar fluctuations)can cause apnea?

Typically when I eat sugar my heart pounds and I start breathing harder. I noticed on my respiration chart it was high for the first hour of sleep then took a big dip for an hour - several apneas occurred and then respiration went back up and stayed normal. The other apneas happened later in the night, probably during REM sleep which is normal for me.

How I wish the machine measured glucose simultaneously.
