I'm curious where the carbs are coming from also.

Heavy cream- .5 carbs per Tablespoon

The other two items would be 0 net carbs, correct? So that would be 1.5 carbs per recipe?

I still say there's something missing here. But oh well....

I've been making hot cereal with the following recipe:

Equal part of flax meal, coconut flour and whey powder (I used 1/2 cup of each), and some apple pie spice. Then using the scoop from the whey powder, I measure out half of a scoop. Add water and nuke. I added sweetner afterwards (Sweetzfree) and cream on top. It is REALLY good, really filling and remarkably like oatmeal, which I miss a lot. Keep the mix in the fridge, though, to keep it all fresh. There are endless possibilities for flavorings with this, too.

Found original recipe somewhere in the forum. Some changes to it yielded:

2 tbsp ground flax - 4 g
2 tbsp wheat bran - 5 g
1 tbsp vanilla whey protein powder - 1 g
1/2 tsp cinnamon - 1 g
1 Splenda packet - 1 g

Mix all ingredients. Add 2/3 cup boiling water to mix, stir well, cover with cloth until desired consistency reached.

Kcal = 146
Fat = 8 g
Total carb = 12 g
Fiber = 8 g
Net carb = 4 g
Protein = 13 g

If you add tbsp heavy cream at end, add 45 cal, 5 g fat, 1 g total carb.

Can manipulate flax, bran, and protein powder (more, less, omit) to taste/dietary demands (i.e., no wheat) but keep to 5 tbsp.

I left out the protein powder. I have never used the oat bran.

My version is very simple, it is similar to the way I grew up on eating the oatmeal packets:

Eyeball about 1/4 cup of flax meal into smallish bowl. Pour boiling water over it enough to stir into a soupy mixture and let it absorb and set a bit (after years of practice with the instant oatmeal packets, I know how to eyeball the water, but I have no idea how to figure what it actually measures. Practice is required). stir occasionally for the next few minutes as it cools to comfortable eating temp (10 mins?). Add nuts if desired, but normally I put a small shot of Torani syrup, (vanilla or hazlenut) and stir in.

Eat.
