Question Carbs in the UK

I've only been following for about three weeks now after reading an older version of the book. And i read about net carbs and actual carbs.

When I looked of the UK labeling there was two labels for carbs, Carbs and carbs that sugar. Now I thought that I only had to count the carbs "that sugar"

Is that right as I read in another forum that the carbs that you dont count are already removed from the nutritional info so the carbs it says are the carbs you count.

Please can someone clarify for me

(might explain the slower weight loss >.<)

With UK food labels, you count all the carbs.

The main difference is that in the US, fibre is included in the carb count, so that would get subtracted (in the US but not in the UK).

Other carbs can be things like starches, which definitely still count.

Good luck, I hope this helps!

To clarify a bit more for you:

in Europe you need to ADD the Carbs (NOT just carbs from sugar), to the Fiber count. That is your total carb number.

Net carbs, would be without adding in the fiber count.

In the UK the carbs is the total carbs you can digest. The carbs from sugar is just that and the rest of the carbs are usualy from starches.

I am stuck, how mant carbs do we count on Atkins chocolate? I take it is not the 1.9 or so they state! In the uk is it more like the 17 stated on the back?

Can you post the nutritional info from the label so someone can help decipher it for you?

I'm confused (and scared)

Below is an example of the stats from a signle sausage from Sainsburys. How many carbs should i be counting here for just the one sausage?

Protein 9.3g
Carbohydrate 1.0g
Total Sugars 0.4g
Starch 0.6g
Fat 10.3g
Saturates 3.8g
Mono unsaturates 4.3g
Polyunsaturates 1.7g
Fibre 1.3g
Salt 0.77g
Sodium 0.31g

Count the one carb.

BTW have you checked the list of ingredients in those sausages?

Most british bangers have flour or rusk or some other kind of starch added to the meat and seasonings, which would make them suitable for the last OWL rung not for earlier in your Atkins journey.
