My super-low FBG that I mentioned in the first post has never happened again. So it was a fluke. Nothing but not eating has ever gotten my FBG anywhere near that low again. No magic herbs.

But it just dawned on me - I was taking it for pain in my toe & the pain is gone! I haven't had even a twinge in months.

I haven't sweated yellow either. Must be just an odd metabolic reaction.

Turmeric is a well-known anti-inflammatory ingredient in Indian traditional medicine, Ayurveda. You can find it as a powder in Indian stores. It does stain fingers, but very worth it from a health perspective.

Is THAT the reason each Autumn/Winter my hands get unexpectedly, bitterly, painfully cold then the fingers get either dead white or turn kind of dark, and then the skin splits open like a paper cut that does not want to heal (sometimes a dozen paper cuts inside a minute)?

Nancy, it could be. Husband has Reynaud's, but hasn't actually dealt with it, other than running to run warm water over his hands when he gets home in the winter: his fingers are yellow/gray.

Sigh, added to the list of things to discuss when I find a new doctor.

My old doctor just said, 'gee that's interesting' when I showed him my lacerated hands two years ago. But I practically lose the use of my hands - and it started early this year.

Basically, so did his...but he would NOT have pushed it, at all. I need to research what kind of specialist deals with Reynauds'--hematology? maybe?

PS: a rheumatologist.

When I get back from my trip, I'll search for one for him.

My finger will turn completely white. Doc`s advice was to dress warmly. I`ve been taking turmeric for maybe 6 weeks. It will be interesting to see if the condition is better this winter.

That's why I want him to see a rheumatologist. Doctors, in general, have a strong aversion to saying, "I don't know."

I was very lucky, years ago, to have one who was OK with it. I went to the ER with my 7 day old baby, because my right arm hurt so much that I was crying. My OB GYN told me he knew enough to know that he didn't know, and called in an internist.

I had pulmonary emboli, and within hours I was gasping for breath. Good call, and I will be forever grateful to him for being humble enough not to try to handle it himself.

That's scary.

Back to that Golden Milk recipe. Someone IRL asked me about it...thought it might relieve her back pain? What did I know about it? Answer was nothing other than seeing it on Pinterest and here. Assume you can make it with different types of milk? Maybe coconut milk more soothing than dairy or nut milks? Any success or advice about Golden Milk?

In the Golden Milk discussion, entry #11, Verbena talks about using a lot of different 'warm' spices together. I made note. The mix sounds delicious and quite possibly very healthy.

It worked for me, but I'm the OP.

I got tired of drinking it daily. Now I'm taking Inflammarest, an herbal supp. It also works.

As mentioned, I have found it good for stopping a cold in its tracks, if drunk early enough. I also find it to be a comforting cold weather drink - DH has cocoa, I have turmeric milk; I like it better! I haven't noticed any improvement in inflammatory markers, but I haven't taken it daily. Perhaps I will try that experiment this Autumn as the weather grows colder.
Remember to add pepper to the mix, as it works with the turmeric.
