Day one of the fitness challenge - excited, and a little nervous. Plan is to do just a bit more than I currently do (which basically consists of walking to work each day). Try to build some strength. I honestly don't care about the number on the scale, but I'd love to see inches disappear.

current measurements:
bust: 38.5
below bust: 31
natural waist: 30.5
belly button: 36
3 inches below belly button: 38
hips: 41
thigh: 23
upper arm: 11.75

Yesterday the DH gave me a ride to work, so i missed that - to make up for it, I did 45 minutes of stairmastering when I got home. I also climbed 15 flights of stairs over the course of the day at work.

This morning I tried doing some push-ups. Couldn't even do one! I actually laughed at just how pathetic my attempt was. Oh well, i have no where to go but up, i guess. Will try to get some weights over the weekend.

Day two

50 minute walk to work
climbed up and down 15 flights of stairs at work

tried doing pushups sort of leaning against the wall with my legs way back. Don't know how useful this is, but it definitely was easier but I still can feel it in my arms. Maybe if i just keep pushing the legs farther and farther back, eventually i'll be doing them lying down! Gotta start somewhere.

Day 3:

50 minute walk to work
15 flights of stairs

same old same old, but i'm glad i'm doing it. Will take my yoga vid down to c-ville with me this weekend and do that while the DH is working or something. May also see if he's interested in a nice long walk.

Day 4

50 minute walk to work
15 flights of stairs
15 of those goofy against the wall push-ups (hey, i can actually feel something, so maybe this isn't a total waste of time).

meant to do some other strengthening exercises, but was SO bushed after so little sleep that I just went to bed.

Saturday: didn't really do much. Toured around Montpelier (James Madison's house and grounds) which kept us on our feet for over an hour, but it was mostly meandering.

Sunday: walked 70 minutes to lunch, and 70 minutes back.
12 of my silly push ups against a wall (might be ready to try the real ones again soon)

Monday: 30 minute run
12 squats

Wednesday:

50 minute walk to work
15 flights stairs
12 ab crunches
12 REAL pushups! woohoo. these weren't worthy of a marine or anything, but i can see a real improvement. I'm actually able to lift my body a bit off the floor now. So i guess the silly ones actually did help some.

Saturday - totally lazy.

Sunday:
12 push ups
12 sit ups (ouch - how did i get so out of shape?? at least i'm working on it now)
12 squats
50 minute walk to brunch

I feel like i'm not getting anywhere with this, but I have to keep reminding myself that in 2 weeks i've gone from no push ups or sit ups to doing 12 a day (or every other day). I guess it is something.

yesterday:
12 minutes running
15 flights of stairs
12 squats
12 push ups
12 sit ups
