Default Will coffee & tea affect supplements?

I was told by a GNC staff that i should only take coffee or tea an hour after taking my supplements. She said if tea/coffee is taken within the next hour, it will render the supplements void in the body.

How true is that?

hi Fumih,

Caffeine can interfere with the absorption of calcium, and increases the amount of calcium, magnesium and potassium lost in the urine. It also depletes water-soluble vitamins due to the diuretic action, especially vitamins C and B-complex.

Caffeine is caffeine, whether it comes in a pill or a cup of coffee. So, it would be best to take other supplements an hour away from the ones with caffeine.

hth,

Doreen
