Question CFS & Fibro

Are they the same? CFS & Fibro? I have been told by a few physicians that I most likely have fibro- besides having some other health probs. What sort of a doctor can help me with this? I was told that I should go to a neurologist for some better diagnostics. From what I understand,it is a hard diagnosis. Is there any clear testing that could pinpoint this better? I know that stress certainly makes my condition worse, to the point where I can barely move. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance!~

Default they're the same

Suze C,

My 15 year old daughter came down with CFS in late November 2006. Her fatigue and brain fog was so overwhelming that she couldn''t return to school and will have to repeat 10th grade. We went from our family doctor (who thought that it's just a teenage girl's emotional problem) to 2 neurologists, allergist, accupuncturist, endocronoligist, Homeopath, etc. We ended up at Dr. Paul St. Amand's office, an endocronoligist and fibro specialist in Los Angeles, who told us that CFS and fibro are one and the same. He also has fibromyalgia. He's world renowned and I think he's going to be our answer. Jett (my daughter) had almost no pain, so we were very surprised that her CFS was really fibromyalgia. Check www.fibromyalgiatreatment.com.

It's been a very difficult road with lots of dead ends. The reason I was on this website is because Dr. St. A told her that a low carb diet would be helpful to increase her energy and to help the brain fog. I think that it's working. His understanding of the origin of the disease is completely different that anything else out there. I still don't know if I buy into it, but it seems to be working. If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to email me. Best of luck on your journey.

Thumbs up thx for answering wendy!

Thanks Wendy- I finally got a dr. in my new area who is listening to me, and not just thinking pain pills are for addicts and junkies. He wants to send me to a rheumatologist first, rather than a neurologist. I don't even know if there are any endocronologists around here.

I know I am tired of ppl telling me it is all in my head- those who do not have it, have no idea of what it can do to a person. My own mom thinks because it does not take me 2 hrs. to get dressed in the morning like some ppl she knows with fibro- that I can not possibly have it. *sigh*

I am almost done with moving, and am easing into low carbing- but within a week- I hope to be full force at it- will let you know if it helps ease the fibro symptoms Wendy- and again- thanks for answering.

p.s. that website you gave is really good info!~
