Default Dercum's Disease (Adiposis dolorosa)

Have any of you heard of it? It can fall under the disagnosis of fibromyalgia even though it's different.

I was diagnosed with fibro in March and now, as of today, I have a new diagnosis of Dercum's Disease. I am just curious what your experience with it has been.

Here's a link with info on this disease. Dercum's Disease

Wow, that sounds awful. I've got a lot of fatty lipomas but they don't hurt. Thanks goodness!

It almost reminds me of NF (Neurofibroma).

Oh, be so glad your lipomas don't hurt.

It does sound a little like neurofibroma, but different still.

There are just too many nasty illnesses out there.

I just checked the above link and it's working. Strange.

Anyway, here is another: What is Dercum's Disease?

i have neurofibromatois and fibromyalgia..pain is sometimes so bad i can't get up to do more than go to bathroom
[d/t the fibromyalgia]

the pain does not seem to be skeletal but in the flesh and
head is 'heavy' difficult to describe...hard to live with

i am hoping that losing weight will help, because i have had some relief from the fibromyalgia with walking and otc meds but it is getting difficult to walk now d/t weight

Hi Starter,

I am so sorry to hear that you're suffering so. Lcing has antiinflammatory properties, so I would think it would help. You might even look at the fasting thread in the buddies and challenges section of the forum. Fasting seems to help with many problems. I am trying it and seem to feel better on the days I fast. Strange.

With your fibro, you need to supplement, sleep and rest, exercise as much as you can. I would recommend light easy yoga, when I can manage it, it makes my muscles feel so much better. You could even think of a massage tech called Fibromassage. It was developed here in Sweden.

I understand totally about pain and the strangest symptoms ever, that come and go at their own will.

I am sure losing weight would help. I sure wish I had an easier time of it, but with Dercums, the body just doesn't want to let go. I keep plugging along.

Wishing you the best,

Just a note:

I have been lcing since 2000, minus while pg two times and falling off the wagon. Now I have added Intermittent Fasting. I've been at it almost three weeks and I am seeing improvements making it worthwhile to continue.
