Default Meds other than Armour

I live in Memphis, TN. I asked the pharmacist at Kroger if they had any other meds but Armour. She said no.

Soooo where do you go for alternatives such as Naturethroid and others?

Thanks,

Try looking for a mail order pharmacy.

Like CVS? Just curious. Why would that make a difference?

I'm confused by your question. Have you tried searching on something like "Where can I buy nature-throid"? You can buy prescription drugs online legally, if you have a prescription.

I got a lot of hits. Here's a link to one:

https://www.healthwarehouse.com/nat...html?ref=goodrx

http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.co...-nature-throid/
Here's an article about switching from Armour to other brands. Maybe someone in the comments has asked. Or perhaps you can post a comment.

You mean your doctor prescribed Nature-throid but doesn't know where you can buy it?

No....IF a doctor would prescribe it. Since some don't like even Armour, I am wondering if many even know what it is.... Will just have to find out.

Step one: get the prescription. If your doctor will prescribe Armour, ask if she'll prescribe Nature, instead, because you've seen a lot of people reporting issues with Armour since they were bought out. Be specific in your own issues.

Step two: find an internet pharmacy that carries that particular version of thyroid in the dosage needed.

Step three: send your prescription from the doctor to the internet pharmacy (scan/attach to an email).

Ah, so you're looking for a doctor to prescribe you natural thyroid meds? Armour and Nature-throid are both the same kind of thing, but different fillers.

Probably the best place to start looking is on the STTM site. I don't know where you live, but some states have ND's and PA's that can prescribe and they're usually very open to prescribing such things. Chances are you might need to pay out-of-pocket. Your insurance probably won't cover it.

Your HSA will though, if you have one.

Yeah, all the supposed good doctors here in Memphis, TN don't accept insurance....sucks....

I am going to a new doc next week that I know does treat thyroid and hormones. She is a nurse practitioner. Hopefully this will be a blessing..!!

Also, ask your PA if she knows of a pharmacy that sells Nature-throid, if that's what you're wanting.

I get my Nature-Throid from my doctor. I feel so much better on it than I did on Armour or levothyroxine/leothyronine. I have to pay for it myself but it is only $9 per month!

So glad JAnn!!!

I hope I can get this new doc to let me have it. Though it is a little premature since I am going for the first time today. But I have to do something....

Course I am also going through menopause, (no period for several months). Sooooo I don't know what is bothering me. Cant lose and actually have gained a little. I am hoping that is because I ran out of BP med.

Was on another forum and ALL the people were making fun of people saying they couldn't lose weight because of thyroid, and/or are gaining because of thyroid. Well I sure was when first diagnosed. Getting on my meds and getting kind of straightened out sure helped me lose. But now I am losing my mind...lol...

I don't think BP would help you lose. Menopause can be a terrible time to try to lose weight. Focus on being healthy now when things settle down you can attempt the weight loss, if it isn't happening now.

Doesn't hurt to experiment with the thyroid and see if it helps.
