I've signed up to be a study subject for a Dr here in Indy. Has anybody else done this before? What was your experience like?

I got the call from the Dr's office to call to get an appt for the new study. I'm hoping this will help shed some light on what's been going on lately. This flare has been brutal. Almost relentless pain that has gone on for over a month now. I'll try to journal the experience in this thread to break it down for everyone. Wish me luck!

Kuukuu, have you ever tried modifying your diet to see if it might help with the flares? Sorry you're going through one.

Normally it does...just not this time. It really has been an emotional time here within the last 6 months. I can't say I've stuck 100% to diet, but I know I'm not as bad as I could be.

My appt is for May 8th. I'll be there for an hour and a half answering questions and being generally poked and prodded for a 14 week, double blind study of Riboxitine with a 1 year follow up. After that time, it becomes an 'Open Label' study where everyone gets the drug.

So, this drug, as the dr says, is an NRI. Norepinephrine Reuptake Inhibitor. I guess they're basically looking for something to mask symptoms. A cure appears to be a long way off at this point.
