Default Gotta have my cereal...

Well, since I'm within a few lbs of my goal weight I decided it's ok to add more carbs back.

One of the things that was the hardest to give up was my morning ritual of a bowl of cereal and milk. Mainly because I liked the taste, it filled me up till lunch and because it's easy to make.

So for breakfast I added cereal and milk back. I've been doing this for the last two weeks and no weight gain so it works for me.

Here's what I eat:
Cereal
Puffins Original (Trader Joes stores under the Barbara's Bakery brand)
I like the flavor and it's pretty low in carbs.
Nutrition per 3/4 cup
Calories 90
Fat 1g
Sodium 85 mg
Potassium 85 mg
Total Carbs 23 g
Dietary Fiber 5 g
(So net carbs is 18 g)
Protein 2g

Another similar cereal that is easier to find is:
Crunch Corn Bran (Made by Quaker)
It is almost exactly the same taste and nutritional wise (per 3/4 cup) as the Puffins except for that it has more sodium and less potassim. (You can find the details on fitday.com)

For milk I either drink an unsweetened Soy Milk or I take 2% milk and water it down so it's 1/2 milk and 1/2 water.

The soy milk is 100 cals, 5 g fat, 5 g carb and 9 g prot.
The 1/2 milk 1/2 water is: 60 cals, 2.5 g fat, 5.5 g carb and 4 g prot.

This doesn't fit the needs for somebody on induction but should be fine for those on maintainence who want to add back some form of cereal.

Hope this helps,
Mike

Hey! Super Walmart has a cereal in with all the bagged imitation stuff. Its Nutritional something. Made with red wheat and its only 10 net carbs for 3/4 cup. Kashi has one thats about 13 net carbs for 3/4 cup too. I have Kashi in my pantry but am afraid to try it
