Default DANGER!! Amish Friendship Bread

Just a warning to any LCers who tend to "cheat" a little--There is a rotten little gift being passed around in my circle that amounts to a food chain letter called Amish Friendship Bread. This innocent looking loaf and its accompanying recipe have wreaked havoc upon my diet progress!

If any so-called friends give you one of these, pass it on immediately to someone else...DO NOT taste it, try not to read the recipe even (that way you're not intrigued by the process).
Resist with all your strength and pray for me...

Smile Yeah even got it in Holland!

I know the bread. And it's good......TOO good . So do as smittnkittn says, DO NOT ACCEPT THIS BREAD! It's full of sugar (that's the way to start and keep the dough working..)!

Good luck to you all!!

Bye!

Default I live in Amish country....

And anything related to Amish or Pa. Dutch cooking is way off limits to this woe. That includes Shofly Pie, Schnitz and Knepp, Cracker pudding, Pot Pie, etc, etc, etc.

The good things to Amish cooking are the "sours". Pickled eggs, Pepper Slaw, Dill pickles, etc.

I know about Amish Friendship bread. It's delicious and it's LOADED with sugar. Definitely a no-no on this WOE. I would suggest that you tell anyone who offers you some that you are allergic to sugar/flour/eggs (take your pick) and ask them to share with someone else.
